I do believe I will be investing in that tree after this year

I don't say you are a grinch at all!! It is your choice to decorate or not decorate. To be honest, if it weren't for my 4 skin kids, I WOULN'T decorate either.I enjoy the tree being up for a few days and then I'm happy to take it down.

The limbs unfold like a big umbrella. AND if you miss the smell of a fresh tree I recommend a pine scented air freshener.
I got my 7 foot tree at Wal-Mart!! It was after Christmas last year and we paid $35 for a pre-lite tree.It is sooooooooooooooooooo much easier to do and less hassle.

Your coworkers are lame for thinking that calling anyone a Grinch is going to help a person get the holiday spirit.

p.s. We usually put the tree up on my birthday, with champagne, and the champagne helps a lot. :-)

I just have a bunch of the little L.E.D. candles, that use batteries. They have these little timers in them, so they turn themselves on for 8 hours, and off for 16. So I program them to come on at 5pm, put them between the double hung windows so the cats won't knock them over, and forget them. The batteries last 30 days. Thats my decorating....when the batteries run down, I take them out and put them away, which is normally around dec 30th.

That's a good idea.... I've found some LED snowmen, and am thinking about getting them.

Maybe I am getting into the holiday spirit.

I totally agree with you and most of the people responding here. It is such a lot of work and mess. And there is already so much Christmas stress. Also doesn't help that stores and radio stations have been playing Christmas carols since Halloween!:

Also doesn't help that its almost 70 degrees here the last day of NOvember which is unusual for NE. I'm not complaining about that, but its just hard to get in the spirit.

Wonder if my kids would vote for a couple more presents instead of a tree?

I guess I'm lucky. DH and I decorated together. It's much more fun with two people helping. We also have a pre-lit tree.

Hubby could care less about Christmas decorations, so I get stuck doing all the decorating. Usually that's done on December 24th, and everything comes down right after New Year's Day! He actually put the lights on our artificial tree last year, without being asked to do so, so I was a bit surprised. However, I just discovered that he threw out a little table-top tree, with ornaments and lights, that I bought last year to use during Advent. Advent Wreaths with real candles are big here, but don't mix well with cats.

Indeed. Enough time to enjoy it for a while, but not excessive.

Why not just put up a few, select, and very elegant/nice/whatever you like decs? And/or a small, fake, table-top tree? I admit, I do decorate every room, but mostly in a small, simple way--non-toxic or fake greenery, some ribbon, candles, etc. I don't like a splashy display, just some natural seasonal stuff. Hey, even if you just put a bar of Christmas soap at the sink, that could be enough! You shouldn't let others make you feel guilty--do whatever pleases you, that's the important thing.

Have A Merry Christmas!

The problem is that my DH feels the need to make every square inch of space decorated. Even in 750 square feet there is a lot to do.

I use a fiber-optic table top tree. The Cats all seem to leave it alone and I don't have to mess with lights. I don't think I will be doing much more than that this year either, just cant get into the spirit - so I guess I am a Grinch too
