I've got clear lights outside (tons of them), but I'll use colored ones on my tree inside when I finally manage to put it up.

I do not put a tree up, not since baby Spaz destroyed my 30 year old artificial.

However, I prefer a tree to look as old fashioned as possible, clear lights, popcorn and cranberry garlands and homemade or rustic wooden ornaments.

I remember as a toddler the tree we had for one Christmas, a fad I hope never returns.
We had a shiny silver aluminum tree that spun on it's base with a lighted color wheel shining on it.

Given the era those were popular in, I'm convinced those trees were designed by hippies.

I prefer clear. Color and multi-colored lights are okay for small areas. I have a little table-top x-mas tree that is decorated with purple bulbs and multi-colored lights. Clear lights outdoors makes it look more like a winter wonderland. Colored lights everywhere makes it look like a carnival. Nothing wrong with carnivals!

I accidently voted clear, when I wanted to vote colour!!

I love the look of coloured lights. Clear are okay, but I definitely prefer colour... especially on the Christmas tree!! I don't like the multi-colour of the LED lights though... they seem so plain and boring!!

IMO of course.

I prefer the multi-colored lights on my tree, it just gives it such a warm and cozy feeling. I did have the clear lights on the tree one year, but I just didn't care for them as much, probably because growing up we always had the multi-color lights on the tree. Now, for outside decorating I definitley prefer the clear lights.

My absolute favorite though are the all red lights. Love, love, love the red lights. I bought a little red tree which has red lights, I just had to have it!

I like a colorful 'family fun' colorful tree mostly, but my parent's used to also have a more elegant tree with white lights and elegant ornaments.

In my house I have a color tree and then around the livingroom I hand these white lights that have a crystal/irridescent bulb over it as well as a strand of snowmen lights. The last time I did the outside of my house, I used white lights. That was mainly because I have a bunch of strands of white lights left from my wedding.

We both have always preferred the clear lights, but having said that, this year we got the new LED lights in blue because we didn't like the way the white/clear ones looked. We both now also agree that with the LED lights, we prefer the multi-coloured. That in itself is very strange since neither of us ever liked multi lights. Several of our neighbours have the multi-coloured LED's and they are beautiful. So next year we are going to go multi since hubby isn't particularly interested in taking down the blue ones now that it's cold outside.
