Nikki, as the others have already said, just be supportive. The guys he works with are probably very worried that with his knowledge and experience, he will likely be promoted long before they are so they are jealous and nervous.

As for being a US Marshall, again I feel you must be supportive. If this is important to him and it's something he really wants to do then I think you should encourage him. I would hope that if there was something I really wanted to do my husband would encourage me and not try to talk me out of it.

Nikki, did you get my PM? I've been thinking about you, and had asked about Colin (in addition to some other things) just yesterday, and just saw this thread!

I'll add my vibes that things work out for the best, no matter what happens!

Thankyou soo much everyone for all of the support and vibes. I sincerly appreciate them as does Colin. Last night he got in around two. I was still up working on a paper, so we talked a minute and then headed to bed since it was so late. I don't really know what went on last night or how it turned out, I didn't want to ask him right before bed and upset him if it didn't turn out the way he hoped for. I'll ask him a little bit today when the time is right. I can't tell everyone how much i appreciate knowing that I have such sweet friends in other places praying for us and our future- that's an awesome feeling. As far as the US Marshals goes- I've told Colin before- that whatever he decides, i will be standing beside him and I will support him, even if i'm not crazy about it. So he knows that he has my love and support on that note. As far as the job description of the marshals goes- it's not the danger part i'm so concerned about, it's more of the being away from home part
. Which Colin says he doesn't like eithor, so who knows. He says he's also thinking about engineering and a few other things....so only time will tell what he winds up doing. He has his degree in Management Information Systems- which can lead to extremely nice high paying jobs- but the thing is, he is absolutely miserable behind a desk and would rather be out there helping people and doing good that way. That's one thing i definitely get and admire about him. And as far as the danger thing goes again- he was a naval lt. in the military and was in the military 8 years. He is now a cop- sure, i know both are dangerous jobs, but i also know he's had excellent training and takes every single procaution to protect himself and be safe, so i don't really worry. So if he were to do the marshal thing, i wasn't concerned so much about safety (although if he were one of the ones who did the top 15 criminals and things like that i'd definitely freak out a bit). When it comes down to it- i definitely am not crazy about him looking into the marshals-but i will support him and be there if that's what he wants to do. For right now though, he's stuck on the police force until he can find something else he would like to do that he can also make a living out of....so keep those vibes rolling in- he's having it so rough right now

Thankyou, I appreciate that. We never did wind up talking before he left for work...I don't think he really wanted to talk about it at the moment, so when the time is right, we will

Best wishes to you and Colin, I hope that things turn for the better soon.

What he's going through shouldn't be considered too uncommon (for lack of a better word) in jobs that are considered as "high testosterone" environments such as the police and military but it sounds like what he's going through is a bit much. No one should have to put up with such harassment in their place of employment- no matter their previous professional background. Deep down they probably feel a little threatened by him because most of them probably barely finished high school. They need to get over it and welcome someone with Colin's background as a person who could be an asset to the police force.

With Colin's military experience and education there's no reason at all why he shouldn't be able to get a good job with one of the federal law enforcement agencies if this current job doesn't work out for him. I know that a couple of years ago the US Postal Inspection Service was looking for candidates to hire.

Best,
Bryan

Thanks for the vibes & hugs! I think they're helping
He came home on cloud 9 a few minutes ago- he got a felony arrest tonight
He's the first one in the bunch of new rookies to get one, so he was really excited
I love seeing him come home with lots of stories and a smile on his face

Nikki - I'm sorry I didn't see this sooner

Your a wonderful woman to stick by his side like this - I know he really appreciates it deep down inside, even if he doesn't show it right now. He's so lucky to have you! Keep your chin up, everything will work out for the best, it always does! You know I'm here if you need to talk!

Dont you just love it when they are happy like that. They remind me of little boys getting all excited because they found something nasty to show off or something.

Thankyou Mackenzie! You are such a sweetheart
/ I appreciate the kind words and support. It seems like Colin is having a good night tonight, i'm i'm happy as can be
He got a felony arrest tonight, so he came home in an awesome mood (reguardless of all that's been going on). It was nice to see him not worry about everything else for once tonight and just get a little satisfaction from his hard work
Speaking of work, i'm keeping my fingers crossed that you get your new job!!! When will you know about your interview???

Nikki, that is great news. Give him a hearty congrats from all of us!

I was thinking about this a little bit earlier and was going to ask how long he has been at his new job. One of the things that popped into my head was when I went I went to serve in the US Army after being in the Ohio National Guard for a while before enlisting for active duty service. Even though I had experience and knew various aspects of my job pretty well I had to prove myself all over again to my new unit. Things were a little difficult at first with trying to fit in. There were some verbal altercations and awkward moments but I stuck it out and quickly had the respect of my fellow soldiers-many of whom I'm proud to still call my friends today. My point is that in some respects this is part of what Colin is going to have to go through. With his military history and also being an officer he could face more scrutiny than the other rookies. He's starting at the bottom of the "totem pole" (so-to-speak), he's going to have to prove himself to his higher ups in the police department. The felony arrest that he made a tonight is a great step in that direction.

You're right on target bryan- that has a LOT to do with it i think. The thing with Colin was, he never went into the navy as an enlisted- he got his 4 yr degree while doing NROTC and went in as an insen (did i spell that right?). So he never had to do basic or anything like that and be at the very very bottom of the totem pole...which is why it's probably a bit of a shock now for him having to start all over again with the whole police thing. I think you made some awesome points and you're definitely thining with the same track of mind as i was on that note. Thankyou soooooo much for your imput- it's good to know what another man who's been through a similar situation things so that I can try and be the best girlfriend for Colin
