I hope this young girl suffers some severe punishment. She could have killed her mother, her siblings, herself, and others! If she is doing this at 12 I can't imagine what she will be doing in the years to come!

I just saw that on the local news. Peru is very close to where I live. I can't believe that girl would do something like that!

I'm sorry to be a wet blanket but she will probably get off with no more than a slap on the wrist. Children are so scary these days.

that is awful but I wonder if there is anything going on with how the mother is treating the kids or someone the mother knows or something like that. Not that it is okay for thie kid to do this, but in her eyes, maybe there was a reason.

Wow, that is extremely sad. Does anyone not wonder what that child may have been through in her life to do such a thing? The article doesn't say much, but I'd prefer to think that perhaps there was a lot going on that wasn't written in that report, to make such a young girl do something so horrific.

It seems to me that this was some kind of escape attempt - especially as she took her siblings with her. That doesn't sound like something a self-asbsorbed sociopath would do. She would have just taken off.

I think once the mother recovers and some more facts are uncovered, we may think differently about the child's motivation behind this.

That's exactly what I was thinking. It doesn't make what she did right, but there must be something else behind this story.

I'm wondering too...children aren't born to do this sort of thing...either she had an extreme chemical inbalance or something was going on in the family.

I think someone really needs to look into the childrens home life and make sure there is no abuse or neglect going on. I believe kids are born as a blank slate and we are responsible for how they turn out. Obviously something is very wrong in that house because kids are not just evil. Something drove this girl to that extreme. IMHO

Oh my goodness, that is aweful! It sounds like that little girl has some serious mental problems going on in addition to other things that definitely need to be addressed. I hope she gets more than a slap on the wrist for this - she needs to be taught that such behavior and actions are NOT acceptable. She could have killed her mom and her siblings! I hope she has some medical evaluations done and is able to get the helps she needs. There is definitely something bad going on there. I'm just glad the mom wasn't killed in the fire and that the siblings weren't killed when the 12 yr old decided she could drive....
