Breeders...have your males ever turned aggressive on you if they didn't mate for periods of time???

Just a general question...

No, but I have a related story re: males/breeding and aggression.

Friend of mine who bred British SH's had a few males (they were caged in walk-in cages - floor to ceiling).

He got bit and torn up on the ankles/legs one time when he walked in the cage. The male had a visiting female he was breeding at the time. Owner walked in (not while they were mating) to change water/food. The male thought he was interferring with his access to the female and grabbed him and bit and scratched him badly enough to go to the hospital.

The male was not aggressive if he didn't have a female in the cage - you could handle him, walk in etc. So the owner knew never to do that again.

Have I had a male turn aggressive? Yes. Was it because he didn't have any females to breed? Probably not.

I don't know of any male turning aggressive due to this particular reason. I know of many males becoming restless if they don't breed for a long period of time. They stop eating and only cry for ladies. That I have seen but I haven't seen a male turn aggressive because of it.

Nine years of breeding bengals, I've never had a male get aggressive with me about anything. I can walk in and out of their rooms whenever I please regardless of what's going on.
