I curently do not have a scanner and am wondering if they when they scan photos if the photo stays the same size. I have old family pictures and back in the 60's the picture size was 3x3. I would like to scan then save to a disc and then print out the same size but I do not know if this is possible. Otherwise I will have to take to a photo place that is equiped to do so. I scanned one on a Koadk machine at Target and it cut off the top and bottom of the photo which made it useless for me!!

If the picture fits on the glass plate of the scanner, you should be able to do anything with it.

When you get a high quality scan of the picture, its digital version will most likely be way bigger than the original. You can then make a copy of the file, open it in a graphics program such as photoshop (or some program that came with the scanner ?) and give it the "correct" size inthere.

As long as your scanner and printer can physically handle the size you want to work with, you shouldn't need a photo place for anything.

Hope that helps
Cheers

What he said, Gail, and if you want a recommendation, I have a Canon CanoScan LiDE60, that was under $100 (a little less than a year ago), does nice work, and has been a breeze to use.

That's the scanner I bought to replace my very old and cranky Mustek, and I love it!

As I do not have a scanner (yet) I did go to a good quality photo shop and got good copies. (christmas present) I wrote down the make and model of the scanner though for reference.

I got one of those 3-1 one printer/scanner/copiers for less then $100 by Epson.

Epson and HP have one that are around $99. Both are really good and it saves room if you have a small desk (or require more space).

But yes, as the others have mentioned...if the photo still fits within a sheet of paper (letter sized) then you're good to scan.
