I am so upset. I got a message on the answering machine to call a vet in my area who happens to be one of the vets who will be giving me any orphaned or abandoned kittens that might come their way. So I was excited because I thought they had some kittens. I rang back the moment I got home and they told me that they had my special little boy, Honey Boy with them. He'd been hit by a car and the man who hit him rushed him to the vet but he had already died.

I just don't understand. We live in such a quiet street, people usually drive slowly because there are kids and pets playing.

There wasn't a mark on Honey Boy. Just some blood around his nose and mouth. I could tell he had massive head injuries because when I picked him up, I could feel and hear broken pieces of his skull moving. (sorry to be so graphic.) I brought him home and laid him on my bed for the other two cats, Popcorn and Milo, to say goodbye. Milo kept licking him, trying to make him wake up.

I washed Honey's little body, wiped the blood from his face, trimmed his claws and gave him a last brushing. I buried Honey last night outside my bedroom window. I've kept his collar, even though it has some blood on it, near me all night, even though I was sedated.

Even with such a sad, sad event, I feel lucky that the man didn't just leave my little Honey. At least I know where he is. Too, I feel very sorry for this man, he must be feeling very awful.

Thankyou for taking the time to read this. I needed to tell someone.

I've attached a few pictures of Honey Boy. They're not very good as they were taken on a small web cam but you can see how beautiful he was.

OMG!!! I am SO very sorry to hear about Honey Boy!!! Your post just broke my heart and brought tears to my eyes!!! You are right though...it was so good of the person to rush him to the vet, instead of leaving him there so you at least know what happened, and could bury him.

My heart aches for you, I know how horrible I would feel and devestated if that were one of my cats, especially my Merlin.

I will say a prayer for you tonight, I know how hard this is for you.

My thoughts are with you!!!

Honey Boy was beautiful. I'm so sorry this has happened, it's so sad.

I think it was very brave of the person who's car hit Honey Boy to stop and rush him to the vet. Never mind risking the wrath of the owner, hitting any animal is upsetting.

My thoughts are with you and I hope your pain eases soon.

Im so sorry to hear of your loss of beautiful honey boy. The same thing happened to my Lucy 3 weeks ago. I can totally understand how you are feeling right now.

Big hugs go out to you, and I hope your pain eases soon.

I miss Lucy so very much, but as the days pass it does get better.

Take care

Kumbulu, My heart is breaking for you. I have been through this myself. It's agonizing to lose a pet you love so much. But I am grateful that the man who hit him tried his best. That's so rare. I'm sure he's mourning too. What touched my heart so much was the loving care you gave your baby after he died. Your love for Honey Boy shines through every word you spoke and every loving touch you gave him. He must have had a wonderful life. Bless your heart.

I'm so sorry. I have tears in my eyes for your beautiful little boy. He was deeply loved, and he knew that. I will echo what others have said - it is good that the man had the compassion to rush him to the vet. You have a little angel watching over you now, and playing and waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge. ((((HUGS))))
