I am so upset. I got a message on the answering machine to call a vet in my area who happens to be one of the vets who will be giving me any orphaned or abandoned kittens that might come their way. So I was excited because I thought they had some kittens. I rang back the moment I got home and they told me that they had my special little boy, Honey Boy with them. He'd been hit by a car and the man who hit him rushed him to the vet but he had already died.
I just don't understand. We live in such a quiet street, people usually drive slowly because there are kids and pets playing.
There wasn't a mark on Honey Boy. Just some blood around his nose and mouth. I could tell he had massive head injuries because when I picked him up, I could feel and hear broken pieces of his skull moving. (sorry to be so graphic.) I brought him home and laid him on my bed for the other two cats, Popcorn and Milo, to say goodbye. Milo kept licking him, trying to make him wake up.
I washed Honey's little body, wiped the blood from his face, trimmed his claws and gave him a last brushing. I buried Honey last night outside my bedroom window. I've kept his collar, even though it has some blood on it, near me all night, even though I was sedated.
Even with such a sad, sad event, I feel lucky that the man didn't just leave my little Honey. At least I know where he is. Too, I feel very sorry for this man, he must be feeling very awful.
Thankyou for taking the time to read this. I needed to tell someone.
I've attached a few pictures of Honey Boy. They're not very good as they were taken on a small web cam but you can see how beautiful he was.
