I do! Shawn makes the money and signs his check.I then go and deposit most of it and give him the rest.

I do all the bills here, I'm more organized and much better with money. I prefer to take care of it myself and Will is fine with that. His spending money is his though, we both buy what we want as long as the bills are paid.

I do it period. I let hubby do it because he thought he would do a better job at it once... only once. He was late on EVERYTHING! It was horrible! I had such a mess when I took the bills back over. Never again! My credit is finally good and I don't want anything to wreck it. I pay everything from one account, I have ALL the credit cards in my name, I let him use them to buy things online, ( I can see EVERYTHING he buys however and I don't think he knows that yet) If there's something on our bank account that I don't know, I ask DH, if he doesn't know then there's an immediate call to the bank. I'm anal when it comes to my money. I want to know who I am paying and how much. Strange since I never write anything in my ledger in my checkbook or even balance it.

Me, oh yeah. I am the Budget Nazi. It gets laid out each fortnight in a table, with every bill paid in instalments so we never, ever get a big bill we can't afford. I've worked out roughly how much we spend on EVERYTHING over a one-year period, divided it into 26 because we get paid fortnightly, and I just pay that amount each fortnight - due or not. That includes savings and a `miscellaneous' fund for unexpected expenses. Out of our pays, we each have an allowance from which we can spend whatever we want, but if we use it up, that's it.

I have been bankrupt twice because of my bipolar disorder and the manic episodes where I used to spend thousands at a time, and so I am really disciplined and careful with our money. Max just asks me which account to use, I tell him, and he does it.

I also take care of all the tax, payroll, bookkeeping and accounts at work. I love it, so I do it. We never get a bill we can't pay, we always have savings, and we always have money for emergencies, and now, we can afford everything we want. All because of good budgeting. It's a great way to do things, as long as you can be disciplined.

Max thinks I seriously have some Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Whenever I am doing the fortnightly budget and accounts, he wanders past saying `OCD Police!' just loud enough for me to hear him!!
(He also says this when I straighten up the fridge magnets, but I can kind of see where he's coming from on that one....

Seems like everyone's systems work for everyone, and that's what counts!

I handle the bills. Lee is terrible with money! No bills would get paid if he handled them!

That's why I handle them too. When I met Jerry, he joked that "don't worry about paying them....if you forget, they remind you!"

Well know that I'm on the self employed bandwagon and my severance ran out we had to change things up a bit. DH gets paid once month and we pay whatever is due at that time. We have no mrtge or car payments at this time just the loan for the farm. He (with my input) decides what we need for $$ for the rest of the month and then we send the rest to our money fund (savings). Needless to say I try to spend some $$ before that check to savings is written!! I started taking a small draw from my business acct-basically for purchases of $75 and up that DH rolls his eyes on when I bring that purchase home. But since I will not have any income coming in for the next 4 1/2 months I have to be careful and have $$ left for supplies come spring. We also stopped using our CC as much and paying for everything with cash, check or debit card.

J and I keep separate accounts, but he pays the rent and I pay the bills. I subtract half the bills from my portion of the rent and pay that to him. We keep talking about getting a joint account for savings/emergencies, but it's something we keep forgetting to do. He's more financially responsible than I am, but by me managing the bills I'm learning by his example.

I am a tight wad and DH is an impulsive buyer, so very early on we decided that I take care of the bills and he gets and allowance. Since he is on the road so much (long haul driver) his pay is direct deposit and he never sees it. When we were both driving his mom paid all the bills for us. It was great!! When I came off the road though it was hind of hard to get back into the swing of paying things on time. I would write the check and put into the envelope and forget to mail it. So now I pay things online.

I think it's neat how we all have different systems and they all seem to work for us. For us, Jerry is not allowed to carry the ATM card with him or checks..........but he has a MC with him that if I'm not with him and he wants/needs anything, he can use it if low on cash........now if I can only get him to remember to give me the receipt!

I actually pay all the bills...because it's easier for me to have access at work and home to a computer...when dh worked with me we both paid them...

we have a joint account...so usually it's whomever remembers...lol

As far as spending...we just spend when we want and I keep the bank register in my purse because it's easier...
