Ugh, my poor Carl is still sick, after over a month of vet visits and antibiotics.

He started antibiotics over a month ago, and did two sets of treatments on two different meds (Clavamox and Doxycycline). When that seemed to work and the treatments were over, we thought he was better. A week later he was sick again (sneezing, congested, and snotting mucus).

We took him to the vet again and they did x-rays to rule out nuemonia (sp?) and asthma. His x-rays were clean and the vet decided that he had a sinus infection rather than a RI, and put him on heavier duty antibiotics and decongestant drops. He has been on those for 10 days. He was doing great, and then we went out of town for Thanksgiving (only for 2 days) and left him with a cat sitter who is also a vet tech. Bottom line, I trust this woman to give him his meds and she called me everyday with updates and such. She called Saturday to say that he had started sneezing again.

We came home to a congested kitty. He seems to feel great for about 6 hours after we give him his drops, then he gets congested again.

We have an apt with the vet this evening, so please give a little jingle for poor Carl that he finally gets better for good!

lots of vibes for you and Carl! I know how frustrating this can be, my baby Athena has been sick for over 3 weeks now, on anti-biotics the whole time, just can't kick it and Orion will clear-up from his colds, but then within a week of being off the anti-biotic will be sneezing again
hope Carl gets better soon!

in a pile of open toed shoes!
awww poor Carl....
That totally sucks for all of you. The poor little guy must feel like he's being punished having to take all those yucky meds....and you must feel like your torturing him...
And the worst part about anti-biotics for LuckyGirl is the diarrhea she gets from them..... the poor thing she gets so embarassed for getting herself "messy" and then having to be washed up a bit.

saying prayers for Carl to get better soon!

Sending {{{prayers and vibes}}} out to Carl that he get better soon, and to you and the vet team, that you discover the culprit causing the mess - could it be some kind of allergy, or contact to mold?? Reaction to perfumes of some sort, perhaps Febreze or scented laundry detergent, air fresheners, etc??

You know I keep thinking he must be allergic to something to have been sick all this time! But then again, his snot is really thick, green and mucusy, which makes me think it's an infection.

We are off to the vet again this afternoon, so hopefully we will have an answer!
