If you could adopt more furkids would you?
Definately. I think BF and I will have a vertible colony when we have our own place.

You are being chased by zombies; your choice of weapons is a slingshot and a flame thrower. Which do you use and why?
Darn. Neither is a great choice. Obviously, ideally you'd grab both - I guess it would depend on the terrain. Flaming zombies is bad if you're in an enclosed space, or around flammable material, unless you have a clear escape route. On the other hand, it's a better weapon, wider area effect, greater obstacle creation, it can be used (carefully!) as a blunt weapon in melee and hopefully (given that it's zombies!) more lethal.

I would keep my eye out for a blunt melee/brawling weapon and/or something sharp/sharpenable. Something skull crushing or neck severing would be ideal, and you can't run out of ammo.

(Sorry for the essay, but I try to have a plan for everything.
)

Do you like dogs?
I love dogs, but much like I love other people's kids. Fun to play with, but I'm glad they're not my responsibility.

Congratulations and welcome to the spotlight!!!!
Thank you!

-if I came to visit what sights would you take me to see? where would we have to go?

Well, it would depend on what you wanted to see - if you didn't have much of a preference, I would show you my University, especially the National Watercolour and National Self-Portrait collections, the Bourne Vincent Gallery and the "White House" as Plassey House (a gorgeous old fashioned house) is loving called. If you are a computer geek I would also bring you to the CSIS building and we could lurk around the SQRL offices before grabbing coffee/tea etc. downstairs.

I would take you to see the Hunt Museum in Limerick city and a tour of my favourite pubs and eaties (over several trips of course), and explain the delighful humour of "The Bank". We would also go visit Bunratty, see the castle, village and pub, and stop for lunch in Avoca (the tea scones are to die for). If travelling (and funding!) around wasn't a problem, we would also go to Tralee (one of my favourite places ever) and view some of the sights in Dublin.

-if money was no object where in the world would you love to visit??
Many, many places.

Ben Lommond, Scotland, Dubrovnik in Croatia, Paris, Copenhagen - I would see D.C. and Prague again, and Sarajevo.

-if you could speak cat for a day, what would you like to tell your cats? And what do you think they would want to make clear to you?
I don't know! Probably lots of stuff if I had a whole day. I would tell them how much I love them and what they mean to me, and explain the scary things about the world they don't understand and let them know how hard BF and I work to keep that away from them.

I think they'd want to tell me how much they love us, and to give them Bobby's food all the time, that they like that one best.

-do you have a favorite time of the day? time of the year?
4 am to 7 am is my fav time of the day, and autumn is my fav time of year.

-if it was pouring rain outside....how would you spend your day??
I live in Ireland, it's pouring rain most days!

that's all for now!!
Ok! I hope you think of more later, this is so much fun!

(ps: rambo thinks your calico is a cutie!!!)
And they are - but which one - the one in the first pic on the left, or the one in the third pic from the left?

She's probably a little old for you Rambo - she's two and she's adopted a kitten. But, if you want to read more about her, her story is here:

I'm having lunch, so I'll make my ?'s about food!

How do you take your pizza?
Plain pizza with double mozzerella, usually. Sometimes I feel like other stuff, but that's the one I always come back to.

What do you order if you are having Chinese food?
I don't, usually, I'm not a huge fan. I did go to an amazing Chinese New Year last year, and I wish I'd had the presence of mind to jot down the names of everything I liked.

What is your favorite Italian dish and can you cook it?
I don't really cook dishes, as such... just what I want to eat. The closest thing would be 'almost carbonara', and I love cooking it. It's not proper carbonara through, mostly because I can't eat most cheeses.

What is the most unusual thing you enjoy eating? (for example escargot
)
I don't think I have unusual taste in food. Chorizo, smoked salmon, prosciotto? More luxury than odd, I expect.

Wine or Beer or both? And what kind/brand/flavor?
Wine, not beer. I like a lot of different wines, but my favourite is Sancerre and a variety of desert wines.

Do you like to cook? And what is your favorite thing to make?
I love to cook. My favourite thing to make... I don't know. I love to cook!

Do you have any "signature" recipe's, if so what?
Lots - almost carbonara, my roast pork, my eggs benedict, my bread pudding, my ice creams, my black pudding, my smoked salmon in pasta, my mashed potatoes...

Do you drink soda? And what kind is your favorite?
Not really - mostly I drink water.

Are there any foods that you simply do not like and will not cook with?
Yes. Most cheeses, but that's about it. If I can stand the smell, I'll cook it, but I won't eat it.

What are your "comfort" foods?
Mashed potatoes.

Describe a meal that you would truly enjoy:
Fillet steak with mashed potatoes, served with sour cream.

(But that's just ONE example!)

That's all for now....Congrats on the spotlight!!!

Thank you!

Well congrats on the spotlight!!!

Thank you!

Do you own a pair of yellow socks?
No. All of my socks are white or black, bar one pair given to me by a friend which has purple stripes. That is my coziest pair.

What is on your TV right now? If off, what was the last thing you watched?
I don't really watch tv. The last time I watched something as a TV program was two and a half years ago. I do catch up with shows I like on video and DvD though - like Firefly, Stargate, the West Wing.

How old are each of the kitty's?
Molly unknown (11ish?), Bobby nearly 4, Slayer and Sláine two and half, Talin about three or four months.

How did each get their name?
Molly and Bobby had their names before we got them (they lived at our current address before we did, with the previous tenants). Slayer is named after a cat in comic, so is Sláine, and Talin is named after an old swashbuckling rpg character of BF's.

Are you participating in SS? If so, do you have me?

I wish!

How long is your hair?
Nearly to my butt now.

How old are you?
27

What is your favorite saying?
I have a few - so original (like 'I like to get my survival in first') and some copied (like 'We're not at home to Mr. Reasonable'). I (usually) have a very good memory, and good capacity for contextual quoting.

How many pairs of shoes do you own?
Let me count:
ballet slippers, dance sneakers, high heels, high heeled boots, boots to have remodelled, flats, kitten heeled flip flops, velvet embroidered mules - 8 I guess.

Do you play board games?
Not anymore. I used to as a kid.

Do you play cards?
Very rarely, unless you count solitaire.

When was the last time you talked to your mother?
In 2002 (she passed away Dec 02). We weren't close.

Do you get along well with your siblings?
Mostly.

Did you beat up your sisters a lot growing up?
No. We had one of those childhoods where we mostly had to stick together.

Do you tease your brother for being the baby?
Not a lot.

What type of car do you drive?
I don't drive any type of car.

What made you fall in love with your BF?
I have no idea. I saw him across a crowded room, and was totally struck by his handsomeness (and I am never usually forward). Since he was manning a sign up stand for his society (I was a freshman in college) I was able to approach him - fortunately it was the Games society, which I wanted to join anyway, so getting to know him was very easy.

Are you going to get married? (8 years is when DH and I did)
Probably.

What is your favorite thing to do when you don't have to do anything?
Nap with my cats.

Do you paint your nails?
Not at the moment.

Do you own a digital camera?
BF does. I got it for him for Yule (Christmas) one year.

Do you have a scanner?
BF's - though mostly I use it.

Where did you live when you lived in the States?
Syracuse, NY. If you ever get a chance to go to the State fair there, do!

What is your most prized possession? (tangible item)
Oh, that's hard. Probably the hair clip BF got me after our first Yule.

Do you use credit cards, cash, or checks?
Credit cards and cash.

How close are you to having Christmas shopping all done?
Well, I have a list.

That will be all for now from me. I look forward to hearing the answers!
Thank you! Everyone is coming up with such good questions.

Oh, momma, I want to ask too!
Ok, here are some from Kitters too, for your crew!

What is each of you guys favorite toy?
Live animmmmals.

What do you each like most about your momma?
She is a goooood place to sleep.

What do you each dislike about your momma?
She doooooeees not alwwwwways do as told.

When did you guys last go to the bad mean place?
Wwwwwwwhat bad mmmmmmean place?

Who's the boss?
Molly is Queen.

Who sucks up to momma the most!?
Doooooeeesn't really apply herrre.

OK... A few more from me!

What time is it right now there?
Right now its 11 50 pm

What did you do today that was fun?
I wrote 9000 words of my current novel. That was pretty cool.

Do you snore?
Yep, depending on position.

Do you draw?
I do, though not well.

What do you do for fun?
Ballet, draw, paint, play the cello (all of the aforementioned very badly), write (very well) or read (very quickly).

What are the cats doing right now?
Sleeping with their purrpa - all five of them

Where does each kitty sleep at night?
It depens. Four of them, usually on us. Sláine varies enormously, but not on us if we're both in bed together, though she will if it's just one or the other of us (plus cats).

How often do you read the newspaper?
Very rarely!

Do you like to play in the snow?
I did back when I used to get it.

That's it for now!

Thank you! I feel super-special.

You are super special!!
{Blushes}

So it doesn't snow there?
Very rarely, and I don't think it even counts then - you can still see the grass through it.

What is the weather like? I remember you saying lots of rain, but do you get other things like hurricanes, tornados, monsoons, earthquakes, etc.?
No, it just rains. (Well, not strictly true - any weather that can give rise to a thunderstorm can give rise to a tornado - so Ireland has a few tornados every year - but they are nothing compared to the kind Americans are familar with - most Irish people don't actually know that we get tornados (its sort of a geeky trivia thing).

What do you do that torrments the kittys?
Nothing. I'm a big softie.

How long have you done ballet?
About a year in real life. In my head, over twenty years.

Do your feet hurt?
Constantly.

Can you stand on your toes?
Not well, but I'm not trained to yet.

Have you written anything professionaly?
Not yet, but hopefully, soon!

Would I know it?
Someday, I hope so.

Can I buy it?
Sure. I'll let you know when it's out.

Do you like cotton candy?
In small doses. I don't have much a sweet tooth.

Do you like corn dogs?
No.

What is your favorite junk food?
Pretzels.

Do you like yourself as a person?
Mostly.

What is your best feature?
Physically? My bust is extrordinary, but I'm personally partial to my multicoloured eyes and I'm very vain about my hair.

Non physically? I have a wonderful sense of the absurd.

What is your BF's worst feature?
Well, he's not a girl.

Do you love him even more for not being perfect?
No, but no one's perfect.

Describe your BF. (looks, attitude, personality)
He's 5 ft 10, blond, curly locks, has very childlike facial features - sort of todderly like, and amazing skin. He has a nice build, too. He is genereous, gentle, loving, has a good sense of humour, is hard working, very skilled, willing to learn nearly anything, game. Oh! And he was the most beautiful hands. I wish I could buy him a piano, just to watch him play.

How did you two meet?
He was recruiting for the game society at UL and I was wandering around signing up for stuff - I went over because he was just the most beautiful creature I had ever seen (I doubt I would have been so forward if I couldn't pretend I was interested in his soc - turned out it was the only one I actually wanted to join, so it really worked out).

What is the last thing you said to him?
Something like "Good night lambie toes, give me a shout if you want me to turn out the light for you" ('cause he's reading in bed, and it's not nice to get up when you've gotten all cozy).

Do you joke around with him?
All the time! He's so easy!

Ok, I'll think of more for later!
Cool! I can't wait.

Do you think Jill asks too many questions?

Do you have any friends or family that live in Canada?

Do you think you have an accent or does everyone else in the world have one?

Are you a city girl or a country girl?

If you could buy a home anywhere in the world, where would that be?

What's your favourite comfort food?

What food have you tried once, but will never eat again?

If you had to watch only one movie for a week, which movie could you watch over and over again without losing your mind?

How would your friends describe your personality?

If you could save only one personal item (non-living) from your house, that just caught on fire, what item would that be?

If you could have any hair colour and/or style, without worrying about the cost of maintaining it, what colour/style would you choose?

Where do you see yourself in 10 years from now?

If you could have one item (price not a concern) under the tree this year, what do you want to make your Christmas complete?

On a rating scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the best) how would you rate your Spotlight experience so far?

Do you think Jill asks too many questions?

No... it's nice to be the center of attention for a whole week.

Do you have any friends or family that live in Canada?
Distant family only, though I have lecturers and work collegues from Canada, and they're super people.

Do you think you have an accent or does everyone else in the world have one?

Both. Irish people hear an American accent when I speak, Americans and Irish accent - other English speaking people, like the British or Canadians often hear both parts of my accent at different times.

Non-native English speakers visiting Ireland find my accent pretty neutral (it's missing all the richness of the various Irish regional accents), and hence, easy to understand.

Are you a city girl or a country girl?
Both, actually - I've lived a little more than half my life in the city now, but I've had plenty of rural experience. Ideally, I would live in the country just outside a small or medium sized city, so I could live in the country but enjoy city life whenever the notion struck.

If you could buy a home anywhere in the world, where would that be?
Just one house? The North of France.

What's your favourite comfort food?
Mashed pototoes

What food have you tried once, but will never eat again?
Duck.

If you had to watch only one movie for a week, which movie could you watch over and over again without losing your mind?
Return of the Jedi.

How would your friends describe your personality?
It would depend on the friend, I'm sure, though 'crazy' or 'eccentric' or 'very weird' would probably come up.

I'm pretty ego-manical too (BF suspects that I'm the Buddhist equivalent of Satan, but he loves me anyway).

If you could save only one personal item (non-living) from your house, that just caught on fire, what item would that be?
My hair clip. If that was already in my hair (likely) I would either grab my jewlry box or my cello.

If you could have any hair colour and/or style, without worrying about the cost of maintaining it, what colour/style would you choose?
Honestly? Someday I hope to buy about a hundred different wigs so that I change daily!

Where do you see yourself in 10 years from now?
Lecturing in University.

If you could have one item (price not a concern) under the tree this year, what do you want to make your Christmas complete?
A Stradivarius.

On a rating scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the best) how would you rate your Spotlight experience so far?
10 when there are new questions to answer, a rather sad 4 when I check and there are no new questions (see what BF means?)

What would be the first paragraph of your autobiography?
Thank you and what a good question! I already have several titles picked... but sadly they've mostly aged out.

Funny, I've never gotten to the first paragraph before. Let's see.

Once upon a time, in a far green country, was a born an infant girl. Like most little girls, she had a simple fantasy, that her parents were not her parents and she was in fact a little lost princess. There may be more than a grain of truth to this fantasy, for her childhood had all the cruel hallmarks of those fairytales... and she could not escape the sense of destiny that she felt surrounded her.

BF.
