3 old tube type 'cores' from the enormous rolls of paper that we use at the plant...free with the plant manager's blessing. 2 'bungie' type tie down cords, $1.39 USD each. And the kids love it. I plan to carpet wrap them later, but I've not decided to wrap each tube and restack them, or just wrap one wrap of carpet around the entire thing like a big single toy.

That's great! I have so many expensive toys for my baby, and every time it is the shopping bags and boxes she goes for. Your kitty is probably so happy with that big tube. Very cool.

Yep - as much as we like to spend the $$$$, they really do enjoy the inexpensive toys.

How cool is that!. I would wrap each separately. Then you could "bungie" them together sometimes and leave them separate at other times. And make it one long tunnel other other times!
