my baby CHYPSY is about 8 mths old now ..

and up until 5 days ago never played with her food dish .. NOW almost everytime i leave the house i come home to find food everywhere and food pulled into the water bowl ...

even when i am here she will go eat ... and then after eating .. put her paw in the food dish and pull it out .. or put the paw in and pull the food over to the water dish ....

its a huge mess ... i have no idea what to do to stop this behavior ..
i have changed food dish's ... taken the food away at times ... and now when the food is gone . she plays in the water ..

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

its one of those seperate food dish set ups .. 2 dishes .. being held up from the floor by a little iron stand ..

she is cute when she plays with it .. LOL

I would put the water dish in a location that is not near the food dish. Be sure it's not near the litter box!

And feed the cat less. She'll be less inclined to play with the food.

good luck.

Do what you'd do with a child (and what I do with my 3). Give them the meal, when they walk away, pick up the dish and put it away for 20 mins. Then bring it out again, let them have their 'seconds' (not a new helping though) and then discard what they don't eat, and leave. They'll catch on that they need to eat everything in those two go-rounds or else be hungry (and believe me, they won't!).

If it is dry food, we all had hysterics watching one of our boys play "food hockey". Wayne Gretzky NEVER looked that good.

If it is wet food.......yuck.
