Purrrrrr, purrrrrr, purrrrrr....

Thanks, I feel better now.

Starting to wake up, LOL...going to pick up my daughter and head off to my friend's house for turkey. I'm bringing pie - chocolate cream, of course. I don't envy you cooking all day - but I bet it will all be DELICIOUS!

I'm going to be honest; I have a store bought desert. With starting my new job this week and trying to get everything in order I just didn't have time for the sweet potato tart. I went out to a bakery yesterday and bought a lemon raspberry pie.

My Mom always said "Honey, know your limits."

I'm not really embarassed about it, but I am cooking everything else from scratch.

Next year I will prebake and freeze.

Okay... the stuffing is ready to go into the oven. The hens are completely thawed out and cleaned; we are now boiling the potatoes for mashing.

8-Bit tried to "help" by licking out the bowl with the sausage drippings. He was whisked off to the bedroom to think that over.

I've also graded the cheese that's going into my cheesy mashed potatoes.

The roux burned so we are not having gravy this year. Oh well, I've never been a fan of it anyway.

Everything seems to be going well...

I'm so stuffed I can't move. We haven't even gotten to the tart yet.

The highlight of the meal: the stuffing!

The lowlight: Room temperature Iced Tea.

Nope, I woke up an extra hour early on Wednesday so I could drive 40 miles round trip to get THE pie.
Homemade from a "famous" area diner, the Agawam Diner.

:::groan::: I think I ate too much...

The tart is done. The bakery where I got it from is fantastic, so it was very yummy.

Now we are playing Wii Bowling and having a grand old time.

Any idea what to do with all the leftovers?

Well, after our meal, everybody grabbed a takehome container and helped themselves. Otherwise, heat them up for tomorrow, or Saturday, or Sunday...

Congratulations on your first (of many) successful Thanksgiving dinner! I've always thought that while it seems like a ton of work, it's really not a terribly difficult meal to make.

My problem is that I can't ever get everything to get done cooking at the same time. Last night the turkey took much longer than everything else. Sometimes the turkey is the first thing done!
