To me basically it's just a Tradition what we do, and it has gotten out of hand, I do what I can for mine no more no less, I say give me a list I can choose from and I'll figure it out. This year has been the one time when I am just not with it, it was so much better when the Grandkids were small more enjoyment I think..

I tell mine to give me and list and I'll do what I can also.
The ONLY reason they are getting their big gifts is because of an accident that DH was in about 2 months ago.NOT the one where he totalled his truck. But, one where he was rear-ended.We got the $$ and we decided to use it for the kids.

Maybe we could just back into each other doing say 40 MPH
Where do you live? ....Don't really hurt me though
I can't afford any broken bones and I bleed easy to
I'll just tell the parameics not to touch me till they numb me all over with novocaine and a morphine drip

Christmas is only as commercial as you want it to be. I don't buy expensive presents for anyone at christmas and neither does the rest of my family. I do feel a bit sorry for parents these days as they're under so much pressure to get the latest toy or gadget and they don't come cheap, but many make a rod for their own backs as once you've bought an expensive present one year you get into the game of having to get something even bigger and better the next year. I'm genuinely shocked by how much a lot of parents I know spend on their kids at christmas.

Movin' on up!
I always refused to buy the current "hot" toy. My granddaughters are 3 1/2 and 1 month so, they are easy to buy for. Clothes, books, games and some simple toys seem to work for them. Last Christmas, I did buy tricycles for the twins.

, Is anyone else like me I tend to ask them what they want so I don't have to struggle to figure it out.. GEEEEZZZ when they get that almighty 18 It's like shell shock
Whew !!!!
It's ridiculous. I think it was an episode of Dr. Phil where these two teenagers made outrageous demands of gifts of their single mom who worked two jobs to provide for them. He had them do charity work instead. They weren't bad kids, they just had an over-inflated sense of what gifts should be. They had literally requested 3,000 worth of merchandise for their Christmas lists. Unbelievable. But they helped families in need and it all turned out good in the end. They realized they'd been spoiled, and decided to help others instead of always asking for stuff.

Not saying that's your grandson. Just thinking aloud.

I saw that and it's so true the kids for the most part are just handed stuff, and there expensive taste alot of times comes from the stuff there used to having, I told them all you guys better hope you can find a millionaire, My Grandkids are spoiled yes, but they aren't spoiled brats I think there's a difference, they always appericate what I give them, I can't stand kids that don't know how to be Gracious
I just hope they learn pretty quick what it takes to have what they will need and not alway's what they want.
