My cat is having her kittens, so far there is three, but the third one came out with the, "food sac" [not to sure what its called] still attached to its belly, and I was just wondering if "mommy" will eventually, take care of it. Shes been eating the bigger part slowly, but i'm just a little curious and worried.

ANYBODY!!!!, PLEASE JUST ANSWER QUICKLY!!!, someones got to know.

Honey, if it is her placenta, mom should take care of it. Congratulations on your new babies.

Normally, Momma will cut the cord and eat the placenta ... if she does not, then simply pinch it tightly between your fingers and snip it about an inch to an inch and a half away from the kitten's body with a pair of sharp, clean scissors. You can wrap the remains of the placenta in a bit of tissue and flush it down the toilet.

Hey Lisa.....Gaye has answered your question.....just make sure that mom is kept indoors now and I would make arrangements to have her spayed once the kittens are between 10-12 weeks of age.
