but it worked!

Every morning, Ginger wakes me up at right around 5:00 (my alarm is set for 6:20) with trills and headbutts.
That part I like.
We love and snuggle for a few minutes....and then....

she starts hunting for Monsters Under the Blanket. I can tell her "There are no munsterz now, Ginger" but that doesn't deter her. She knows they are there, even if they stay perfectly still. Toes, knees, elbows, even tummies are considered sleeping monsters.
All I want to do is get that last hour of sleep!

Well, this morning Trent jumped up on the bed while I was trying to explain that there are no munsterz at this hour to Ginger. He watched for a couple minutes, then took off from the headboard and chased Ginger off the bed and down the hall. They were gone for a few minutes and the next thing I knew, Ginger came back and laid down next to my leg and did not even so much as paw at the blankets for the rest of the morning.

I sure wish I could have been in on that little kitty conversation!

How are Ginger and Ophelia getting along now?

Well, I think that Ophelia has come to terms with Ginger's right to exist, but she's still not happy that Ginger is going to exist in her house.
But Ophelia has gone from being scared of Ginger to letting Ginger know that SHE is the Alpha girl of this house. Slow progress, but I do think it is progress.

She was just protecting her meowmie! She would hate to be a hungry girl cause the munsterz got her meowmie! Good thing Trent told her it was ok!!

You know, Heidi, I just can't believe that sweet, innocent little Ginger could behave in such a way so early in the morning!

Seriously, I'm glad Trent set his little sister straight on things.
I hope Ginger takes his advice to heart so you can get that extra hour of sleep!

Tiger has had the same speech to the cat brat gang here once or twice.. around 3am they have their meetings and wrestling matches on our bed. Tiger is quick to remind them that HE needs his sleep also and doesn't want to be disturbed my meowmy's blood curdling screams when a toe is clawed

yeah, me too....maybe he can teach Louie NOT to turn on the light in the bedroom all through the night....
or to use momma's hiney as the springboard for getting the chain to the light....

I love to hear stories about other kitties waking meowmies & purrpaws in the eearly am hours....it's not near as funny when it's mine doing the waking!
Trent is such a smart boy....it's a good thing he's there to teach Ginger some manners!

Yup, Trent is a pretty special little guy.
He takes care of his Meowmy.

Now we'll have to wait and see if it makes a difference tomorrow morning!

Should we place bets?

It's good to hear that Ophelia is asserting herself, too, and at least tolerating Ginger. Now that's progress!

If you were betting on the kitten forgetting the words of wisdom from her older brother, you would have won.
She was all over the Monsters this morning!
Ah well, it's our fault for playing the game in the first place. It just hasn't dawned on her that we play the game at night, but aren't too fond of it before we wake up in the morning.
