Urine Smell In Area Rug

Thread Starter
Has anyone come up with a proven methed for getting rid of cat urine smell in carpets/rugs. I have tried a couple things and just had it professionally cleaned, need to wait for it to dry to see how well it worked. I just wondered what has worked for someone else.

Thanks, Laurie

Have you tried formulas with enzymes in them? Not sure if professionally cleaning carpets alone will get rid of the smell. What might not smell to us, can still smell to the cat!

The first trick I learned was that you can use a black light to locate exactly where the pee is and then treat it with Enzyme D or Tuff Oxy.

Hi,
I have tried two ways that both work well. First, you should unstain your carpet with Oxyclean, or similar cleaners with peroxyde. It may make your carpet more pale, but try it first in a closet, where it will not show. as a test. Then, clean it with soap and water. Let it dry. Then, spray Febreeze - I think it is sold under the same brand in the U.S.
Good luck!
