Good luck sweetie!!! I'm keeping you and deacon in my prayers.
I'm sure all will go well- it's an extremly routine procedure, and with the incentive of the reward afterwards- you're associating the trip to the dentist office with a good thing (mc donalds) so you're teaching him it's not all bad at all.
/ When I graduate dental school, you can come to me and i'll fix your teeth so you don't hate dentists anymore

Btw, we're keeping the tooth so the
will come tonight..... speaking of tooth fairies... Did you know about the inflation with that woman?
It's up to almost $3-$4 a tooth!
You're kidding, right? I think my teeth averaged maybe 25 cents.

We are leaving now.. Please keep him (and me) in your thoughts for the next couple of hours!
I know I'm probably gonna cry more then he is
Good luck - baby teeth are not as bad as wisdom teeth, he will be fine.

Same here!

We've actually been back about 30 mins or so. He's sitting on the floor watching Spongebob. He was SOOO good. He didn't whine, whimper or cry. They numbed the gum with a topical before giving him the shot. They let me stay in there the whole time too
He was SUCH a brave boy! He just kept his eyes clenched shut and did what they told him

Would you believe he's eating french fries and a milkshake right now? Less then 45 mins after having it pulled! He's such a tough kid

Thanks for the vibes everyone! They really did work! I'm thinking about curling up with him on the couch and watching Spongebob.
The dentist told me that it was one of the biggest baby teeth she's ever seen!
Asked me if it was his first tooth because they've usually lost one or two by his age. I asked her how old she thought he was and she said "6 or 7"

I told her "No, he will be 5 tomorrow" she laughed and said "you're gonna have one big boy on your hands. I'll bet he's gonna be at least 6'5"

She also told me that dentists can usually tell how big a person is/or is gonna be by the size of their teeth.... Wonder if that's true

There are two of us then Natalie. I was falling asleep one day getting a filling and the dentist had to wake me to ask me to keep my mouth open. Mind you I had nitrous oxide which is IMO much better than any needle. You come out of it almost immediately which I like as well.

I'm soo glad all went well
Did Deacon get his mcdonalds treat yet?? i'm going to ask one of my teachers about that, that would be soooo cool to be able to estimate a person's height by their teeth- i'm going into the dental field, so now i'm curious on this one- it sounds pretty nifty

Oh yeah. He was eating withen 15-20 mins out of the dentist office. He's doing great.. Except when his lip was numb he started to chew on it because as he said "it felt funny" and cut his lip up and it's swollen. He is playing video games with daddy and eating popsicles

The dentist is not fun at all.
I think he had a good experience all in all

A tip... pick up some Ora-gel. It's the stuff that is used to numb the gums of teething babies. Have the dentist apply the gel to the gum area a few minutes before injecting the freezing. The needle will hurt a whole lot less and maybe not at all.

The dentist I go to uses it prior to freezing for all of his patients... child or adult.

I also keep some at home to act as local freezing when I have to dig out the corner of my ingrown toenail.
I completely agree on this! Ora-gel is a miracle worker! It made me feel better as a baby when i was getting teeth and i still use it @13! (but not for teeth!lol)

I was told to NOT use it AFTER the tooth is pulled. It will numb his mouth and he can bite his tongue, cheek and lip. That's why he ended up chewing on his lip today

My Dentist said not to use it after a tooth was pulled either.....cause kids don't realize it's numb and will bite.
Within 2 days after he had his pulled, the hole was closing up really good.I had him eat soft foods for the first 5 days. After a week, the hole looked REALLY good and now it's all healed up.

That's what happened w/Deacon. His lip was somewhat numb and he kept biting it because it "Feels funny" so he has some cuts on his lip and it's swollen

Well in case ya didn't know, Deacon's stubborn... to say the least
I told him over and over "Don't chew on you're lip. It's gonna hurt" He says "But I can't feel it so it doesn't hurt"... I said "Yeah right NOW it's not gonna hurt but later it will"
