Prescription Diet T/D

Where does one get Prescription Diet T/D? Are there places to get it other than the vet?

NO it is an RX available only byRX ... some online retailers carry but you need to fax or have your vet call in a RX for it ....

Ohhh...I didn't realize you needed an actual prescription for it. My vet recommended it but didn't give me a prescription yet. Thanks for the info!

There are several online companies who sell RX foods (with a prescription), as was said. I did a search earlier this year checking out the RX foods available (turned out that my cat didn't need it- she is allergic to fish - no fish, no bladder infection problem !) and there are several companies who make RX foods, and have a reputation of having better quality foods in general, than Science Diet- which is what my vet put my cats on. I recently switched vets, and discovered that my new one sells Royal Canin RX off their shelves- first time I had ever seen a RX food other than SD at the vet . If you do a search here, or google Prescription cat food, you can see if other companies make the food you're looking for, and the compare ingredients and price, and get the best one for you and your cat.
I read that it is for keeping their teeth clean? I have read a few threads about that here, too, and how well it worked (or didn't) for other people, and the options they discovered. If that's the case, you may want to take a look around!

Wet food isn't supposed to be any better or worse than dry when it comes to dental care. My cat who has been on wet food his whole life is only a year and a half and he had some wicked nasty plaque buildup on his teeth. t/d actually cleans the teeth because of the way it's made and due to its size and therefore is better than strictly feeding wet, or strictly feeding regular dry and giving no dental care. Wet food doesn't make a cats teeth anymore cleaner than any other food.

Anyway just for an oppinion, both of my dogs get t/d and it has helped keep my older dog's teeth cleaned. Not so much the younger one because she never chews her food! I don't have my cats on it because one of my cats has bad food allergies, so both are getting California Natural dry.

I really like t/d as far as teeth cleaning. The ingredients aren't pretty so it might be more worth your time to feed your cats a food with nicer ingredients and feed t/d a couple times a week as a treat for teeth cleaning.

Although it's referred to as a prescription food, you don't need a vet prescription to buy it over here. It's available online. Not that that's much help to you! But I'm surprised something like t/d would need a prescription anywhere.

Not very impressed with it myself as it has very poor ingredients and Jaffa just swallowed it whole despite the larger kibble.

This is the one i have to feed Rosie and Sophie. Ordinary supermarkets don't stock it so i order it in from my vets

I have actually found that T/D is the same (or with very little ingredient/size etc difference) as Oral but at a peaked price!

My Tibby swallows them whole too! I find that the only really effective method of dental cleaning is through the use of an enzymatic toothpaste (Logic, here in the UK) and brushing!
