Kota is NASTY! She went in there and ate some of Puffs kitty litter.

I just
Kota's teeth and changed out the litter. But how can I keep her out of it besides just try to keep a better eye on her. The litter is in my room. If we are in the living room we can't see her and I can't shut the door or else Puff can't use it... and I have no other room to put it. I'd rather not have it in the kitchen. I guess I can put it in the hallway but then it might get knocked over.

You could put a kitty door in your bedroom door, that way your cat can fit through but your dog can't, or you could put a baby gate in your doorway if your dog would not jump over it. You could also try the Booda Dome Clean Step litter box. Dogs can't get access to the "kitty snacks" so easily.

We had a similar experience a couple weeks ago with Max. To remedy the problem, we bought a chain lock and installed it on the door of the litter closet. We leave the door ajar with the lock attached. That way the cats can get in and the dog can't. Maybe this would work for you.....?

There is a Commedien on Tv that goes to his vet and says my dog eats his own poop, is this normal? The vet says don't worry take theis spray and spray the turd, it will make it taste bad.....The turd tasted good in the first place!?!?!?!

Dogs are wierd. At least cats dont do this.

Ok I rent so I can't make any modifications to the doors. However the baby gate sounds like the best option.

That litter box looks interesting too. And then I wouldn't be blocking Kota off from her crate either...

Movin' on up!
I have to agree with the baby gate. I've used one for years, to keep dogs out of the litter box. My two large dogs can pop the top off my BoodaDome litter boxws.

Dogs can do some real gross and dumb things!

I would like to suggest that maybe you should call your vet to make sure this is safe? I mean I know with clumpin litter, it can clog up the intestines and can require surgery. That's what I was told when I was fostering some kittens and a few kept eating clay litter so I changed to another litter kind for them.

Just a thought..

that's why we put a big laundry basket in front of the dryer.
the cat's litter boxes are in the laundry room. sometimes they try sneaking in there but I catch them. I hope he doesn't kiss you!

The bag doesn't say clumping on it. But I worry about the Arm in Hammor I added. I'll keep an eye on her.

Actually that's how I know Kota got into it. I started to kiss her nose and smelled something funny...... Grossed me out big time. Now she's sulking in her crate because she got her teeth brushed.

you should put a chair there so she can't get to it.
and I am sorry I called her a boy.
She's such a pretty girl!
I love shelties.

Actually I do not own a chair..lol. I know silly. But small apartment.. We don't eat at a dining table because we have such a small place. But hubby turned the litter box around so the opening is facing the wall. There is enough room for Puff to get into it but we should hear Kota try to turn it around if she's messing with it. I suppose that will do until I can get a gate or figure out something better. I really don't like blocking her from her crate because she is so afraid of the cat that she's been spending a lot of her time there lately.
