I have just finished colouring my hair, but the question is will hubby notice ?

Now as a rule no matter how much hair i have cut off he never notices so, will he know that my colour is different

He is at work today and wont be home until 7pm so i will let you all know the verdict.

Will he be sleeping in the spare room tonight

I wondered, before opening the thread, if you where going to say "that I got another cat."

The first time I dyed my hair - from dark ash blonde to bright copper blonde. This was not a subtle change. I went from blonde so dark as to almost be brown to blonde so bright as to almost be red.

Not only did he not notice, he didn't believe me when I told him.

He finally conceded, after an extensive examination my hair in outdoor natural lighting that there was 'a slight differnce'.

Men tend to have more rods than cones - so prepare yourself.

No not another cat we have 4 i think he would need a straight jacket if i brought another home.

Yep thats guys for you

I have gone from blonde with lots of grey bits, to a light brown with no grey bits And its the first time i have done this so i was rather worried that it turned out ok.

My sisters hair is a rather fetching shade of blue at the moment as hers went a bit wrong

Blue sounds nice - is she not happy with it? It can be fixed if so!

Are you happy with how yours turned out? It's probably fine if you are.

Of course... you could always put up a pic in the Pictures!Pictures! thread, so we could all see.

I would bet on not noticing, I had 8 inches cut off mine recently and it took my BF 3 days to say 'did you do something different to your hair, it looks really really shiny and curly'

No i dont think she is very happy with it It was supposed to be a very light blond instead she looks like she has had a blue rinse

Sis is always doing her own hair so i guess she will change it soon.

Mine looks fine, thank goodness, no more grey streak down the front and temples. Very pleased with the result

I have no worries about doing it again now !

If she really is "always" doing her hair - that's probably why it's blue.

Sis has always coloured her own hair, why would that make it turn blue ?

To much damage to the hair shaft over time. Weird interreactions between various dyes, too, I guess is a risk.

She's coloring over color, it's a process called tortoise shelling. What happens is that the pigment in the dyes is made of three colors: red, yellow, and blue. When you put too much on top of each other one of the primaries pop out.

Oh I see.

So trying to 'repair' it wouldn't work either. It will take a long time to grow out then

Poor Sis !

It can be fixed, but it's going to be really rough on her hair. She'll have to go get it stripped down to yellow (that's the only pigment that doesn't wash out), and then have a very mild color put on top of it. What will happen is the color will turn red, and then she'll have to wait for that to grow out, and not color it while that happens.

The reason I know this is that it happened to me in college. My solution? I shaved my head.

Very sensible. It cuts out most of the waiting, at least.
