1. Yes, the enemy is still here.... those dangs "fleas"... they just won't go away...
it doesnt matter what i do.. they come back! and now momma has them! now i know i can get me a cap start pill for about 4 dollars.. but those poor babies... i have no idea what else to do for them...

2. HaHa. Momma has begun to move them.. she moved them into my father's bedroom.. in a box.. and she kept on dropping them.. not being about to get them..
so i finally moved all the kittens and her into a room and kept the door closed while i was out that day.. and she stopped.. but now she is moving them into my dining room. and if my brother had not seen her moving one.. i would never known about it till i came into my room to check on them.. is there any way i can stop this? other than fighting her to stay in my room when i open and close the door?

First off, you need to confine the mother and kittens to one room that is safe for her. She should not have access to the whole house. She is getting stressed out which makes her continuously move the kittens around, she isn't feeling safe. Put her in a room with a closet. Keep the closet door half shut and the light off and leave the kittens and mother in a box in there. That way momma can get to her babies and they are safely in the dark corner but she can come out into the room to the food and litterbox. When the babies are old enough the mother will begin to show the kittens her kitten food and the litterbox. They will learn everything from her.

I don't think the kittens can have Capstar yet can they? How old are they? Unless a vet tells you it is okay I wouldn't give it to the kittens. Give the mom Capstar and then a spot-on flea medication that is from the vet (Advantage, Frontline, Revolution, etc) But only if the vet says it's okay. Then sit down with a flea comb and continuously comb over the kittens one by one and dip the comb into a bowl of warm water with dawn dish soap in it. It is a pain but it is important to get those fleas off of them. When they are old enough they will need dewormed too because with fleas come worms and if they have a LOT of fleas then they most likely have a bunch of worms too.

Are there any other animals in the house that could be bringing the fleas inside?? Is mom cat allowed outdoors (very important at this stage to confine her indoors only to avoid her getting pregnant again).

I would not recommend using a sheet over the closet....if she is spoked by any noise...she will still want to move her kittens and without a door, she can still move them to an unsafe location. It may be best to get a hold of a large dog crate and confine mom and her kittens in the crate. Also, you need to put mom's litterbox and food in the same location to avoid her having to leave her kittens to eat and use the litterbox. This is also helpful for when it is time for the kitten to learn to use the litterbox, they will have seen mom use it and when the time is right, they will become curious and want to use it themselves.

I do hope you have plans to have mom spayed once the kittens are old enough to be placed into homes. If you need a low cost cliniic, let us know.

yes there is another animal in the house. i have another cat. gizmo.. and i checked her this morning, and she has fleas... but she is old enough to have the capstar also. and no. momma is not a outside cat. i had a inside outside cat at one point in time. his name was vodka.. and he was ran over. since them, not a single one is allowed outside.

a large dog crate? but would this fit the little box and food also? because in the closet the food is in there also, but the little box is right outside the door. i will go to wal mart and try and find the cheapest crate. (with christmas coming around. there isnt a lot in store)

i am getting her fixed at our local vet, but if i can find somewhere cheaper in huntsville alabama that will do it. that would be greatly appreciated.

im about to try a few tricks to hopefully get any fleas outta the closet, and then comb the babies.

In this case capstar is a waste of money. It will only kill the adult fleas that are on the cat and will only work for 1 day.
You have fleas in the environment which means new fleas are emerging every day. You need an adulticide that will last for at least one month. You should get some Revolution (safe for nursing queens) and treat all of the adult cats in the house. If the kittens are under 6 weeks you cannot treat them but their close proximity to the treated queen will help. Flea combing them everyday will also help. If their are any dogs in the house they need to be treated as well. You should treat the Kittens with Revolution once they are 6 weeks of age and you should treat everyone monthly for at least three months. You should continue treating all the cats as long as any of them are going indoors and outdoors.

.
Ask your vet if they take spay/neuter certificates, and if so, where? You can also do a google search of "low cost spay/neuter certificates, Alabama" , and find out the prices and locations of the organizations that offer them, usually along with a list of vets who take them. I just got our dog spayed- Vet cost: @ $200 for a medium dog. "PALS" certificate- $55. I saved about $150 !
Presurgery bloodwork, microchip, etc. are extra, but STILL...

(but cats are cheaper!)
