Just a little while ago, I fixed one of my all time favorite comfort foods. It's similar to a sloppy-joe sandwich, only I make mine with lean ground beef, salf and pepper, a couple dashes of cumin, and honey mustard BBQ sauce.

I had everything ready, 2 big sandwiches on a plate, some hot potato wedges and a bit of macaroni and cheese, and was ready to go. I was wearing my big, comfy floppy robe, with the big loose sleeves.....and when I turned toward the table, I was surprised to find a chair pulled away from the table and on the middle of the floor. Well, one of the chair backs uprights went right up the floppy sleeve of my robe, and my arm, and thusly, the plate, came to a stop....but the sandwiches, hopelessly trapped in a vortex that was a combination of kinetics and gravity, continued on their way, to land right in the middle of the ENTIRE TRIBE, standing there as though they had been waiting!! In the next instant, my kitchen became a gorey, BBQ splattered scene from "Lion's life on the Serengeti".

I am positive....POSITIVE...that the cats talked Cabela into moving that chair away from the table in a clever trap...jellicle cats on the hunt!!

Luckily, my recipe makes 4 sandwiches....I guess I just won't have the others later like I normally do

WOW. I don't envy you losing your comfort food, but I totally envy having gotten to see such a spectacular scene! You describe it very well.

I know the dismay you must have felt as you watched those sandwiches sail off the plate and hit the floor, but I'll bet the frown didn't stay long when your "tribe" attacked and devoured them. Nothing like watching your furkids scarf down a meal you had lovingly prepared with your own hands.

Awww... I'm sorry you lost your sloppy joes! That just stinks. But hey, at least you don't have to give the tribe treats tonight.

Reminds me of that carpet commercial where the animals are all in cahoots to get the guy's dinner. Maybe you should restrict their television viewing so they stop getting ideas.
