Ok, so Saturday our two best friends are getting married. DH is the best man and I am the matron of honor. We've both been asked to give a toast. I love public speaking, but I've never given a toast before, and I want to make sure that what I say is appropriate for that. DH says he's just going to "wing it"
but I like to be a little more prepared. I would really appriciate some honest opinions about this. The groom has been our best friend since high school and the bride has been our friend since she and the groom got together. We do know most of the family.

Ok, Here's what I think I will say:

I was advised to keep this short and sweet, so I'll do my best! Throughout our lives, friends come and go but best friends are always there, whether you want them to be or not! (insert laughter I hope) Best friends see you at your best and at your very worst, and they love you for both. They may laugh at you when you fall down, but they are always there to help you up! When I think of John and Lisa, I think of the two best friends that anyone could have.
I have never met two people more perfect for each other. You guys have got something that most people dream of all their lives. I am so proud to be your friend. I love you guys and wish you all the happiness in the world! Congratulations!

So honestly, what do you think? I'm not sure if it needs more or if its ok the way it is?? Thanks so much you guys!

I think it sounds great! Wedding toasts that are from the heart are the best.

I hate the toasts where the person is trying to be funny the whole time, and no one laughs, or if it is full of inside jokes.

I think it sounds great! Definately from the heart

I know how you feel. One of my good friends is getting married in March and I'm the maid of honor and am scared to death to give a speech!

I think it's a fine toast. Lots of love and celebration in it, and not too much blather.

I think it's great - short and sweet. People don't want to hear endless droning or forced jokes. Your toast is very nice, and accessible to everyone.

Sounds perfect to me! Short and sweet is the way most people like them!
And its shows that you care!

Thank you guys so much!! I was nervous that it wasn't what a "toast" was supposed to be! You guys have made me feel much better about it!

I think it sounds really good.

I hate toasts where all they do is list a bunch of naughty things they did together when they were younger, pranks and stuff.

I think it's a very fine toast.

I would only make one suggestion: since it is a toast, rather than a speech, it should probably end with: 'To Lisa and John' and your glass raised (so everybody else knows to raise - or, if they must
- clink their glasses.
