Comforter. I have to more than I want because of my sisters dog it never fails I come home from work and she has walked on my bed with muddy feet. And now I have to strip all of my sheets and wash them. Does anyone want a cowardly dog. With big muddy feet.

About once a month as there is always a hairball upchucked right in the middle of it. Don't know the culprit.

i wash mine whenever it either gets too hairy or Chip decides the litterbox isn't 'fresh' enough for him & takes a dump on it

I only wash mine at the end of comforter season, usually. It doesn't show cat fur, even though they spend lots of time on it.

We have goose down comforters/duvets, which I wash once a year. We each have our own single-bed size on a king-sized bed, because I "hog" covers in my sleep. We use duvet covers, though, which are washed every week. They're the norm here in Germany. I used to get them at IKEA when we were in the States, or make them myself.

I have wool quilts-one in a duvet cover which is the one in the spare bedroom so not much usage but it does get vaccuumed!! Our bedroom has a bedspread that will get washed when dirty-the wool quilt gets aired out about every 4-6 weeks and drycleaned only when neccessary.

I have a quilt, very similar to yours I believe, and I wash it about every 2 weeks
1 dog and a rotation of 13 cats leave a lot of fur!!!

Hmmm. I seem to be the only one who washes thier comforter as much as possible. DH and I get hot at night (for now anyway) and it makes the comforter smell yucky after awhile so I wash it as often as I can. ( Of course I have 5 now, but I only wash them after they ALL get dirty, a trip to the laundry mat for one is a waste.
I can't wash them at home, cause I can't fit them in my washer.)

Every 4-6 weeks, but like jugen, I have a couple of different ones (the weather can't make up its mind yet and I NEED the window open to sleep) so they don't necessarily get used for the whole 6 weeks

2 dogs and a rotation of 12 cats also forces me to wash the comforter on the bed and all the blankets on the sofa's & chairs. I do a lot of laundry for a household of 2 humans - probably more related to the pets than to the humans.

I'm allergic to dust & cat hair is an excellent nesting place for mites. So all fabrics in my house are washab le & get laundered weekly. I keep covers in the trays of the cat trees & beds. Throws are everywhere. I don't use comforters anymore, just spreads & duvets. Curtains washed every 1 or 2 months. If it isn't washable, I don't use it.

I did notice my quilt actually doesn't mess up in the washer like my old comforter did. And so maybe its feasible to wash it when Macy gets it dirty. I am trying to not let Macy on my bed as much which is hard to do if any of you saw the pic of her you saw how cute she is and she has that sad droopy face thing going. Last night I woke up to her snuggled to me and I didn't have the heart to make her get up. If I could get her to stay out of the mud we would be fine. But my trailor sits at the bottom of the hill so all the water rolls down here. And I don't know why but she can get in mud quicker than all the others.
