ok I have been talking about switchng my cats to premium edge which I am now doing...

I mixed it with their regular food in their bowl because you say that it is bad for them to just switch cold turkey. the problem is they are digging through the food and tossing the iams all over the floor and eating the premium edge...

What can I do to stop this and should I be worried about it?

I wouldn't worry too much. They may have runny poop for a few days as their bodies adjust. The main reason to mix foods is just to avoid upset stomach and digestive problems that sometimes happen if you switch to a new food. If they aren't eating the IAMs anyway, it won't matter much.

What percentages did you use with the mix? When I changed Persi's diet I started with only ten percent new mix and then kept upping it by ten percent a day until he was at 100% new mix and that worked OK for him with no complaints.

You just switched your cats to something that tastes like filet mignon in comparison, you don't need to feed Iams anymore if your cats don't want it. Donate the bag of Iams to a shelter and feed the homeless.

Every cat is different. Bijou and Mika have no problems if I switch a food on them but I know that some cats do. Yours sound like they may not have a problem with an abrupt food switch.

If you're concerned, you can add some probiotics to the food to help them digest everything better and prevent stomach upset.
