My cat is in heat and driving me insane. Luckily she's not keeping us up at night with any meowing, mostly just getting into everything and being a general pain in the you know what. Yesterday I noticed that she was urinating in our bathroom sinks (we have two pedistal sinks) and today I caught her in one of them although she didn't do anything.

Does Feliway or any similar product work to calm some of these behaviors? Her appointment to get spayed isn't for 2 weeks and all other places around here have the same wait.

I guess I'm just looking for something to calm my nerves as much as hers during this period

From what I've read about it, I think it might help during the two weeks. I don't know though with all of her raging hormones.

Alternatively, you can try to confine her in a cool, dim room. Most cats are light/temperature sensitive and the cool, dim room can help to decrease some of the behaviors. Females spraying while in heat is very normal and a lot more common than you would think. They do it for the same reasons that males do ... to attract a mate. My girl is in heat at the moment too - so I do feel your pain. *smile*
