We just lost our precious Moo on Monday... and while we thought we were going to wait to get another companion for his sister, she's already going stir crazy without someone to play with. We know exactly what we want but I don't know where to post a 'kitty wanted' message. Is there an appropriate forum for that?

The kitty we want is purebred which is why the need to ask. But before everyone starts preaching rescue (with good reason, I'm aware of the virtues), we have reasons for what we want, you just have to trust me

well, I was just afraid it wasn't kosher since it's technically a "pet wanted" ad... but of course i'm not selling anything so maybe I'll try it... just didn't want to give the mods more work if it's not okay! ;-)

Have you tried Craigslist also search for breeders of that breed in your area. When I was thinking about getting a Bengal I just put in Bengal Breeders in Missouri. It works good.

I think it would be OK if you posted a message in the breeder's forum here stating that you were looking for a certain breed of cat and wanting to know if any of the TCS Breeder/Members were breeding currently. What breed of cat are you looking for?

Oh... LOL, glad you said that because I already did. I'm looking for a wedge Siamese. Unfortunately the last time I went on my quest it took two weeks of searching online before we found what we wanted... only to get him home and find an ad in the paper from a local breeder.

Unfortunately the local one isn't breeding anymore and she doesn't know of any other locals... at least not reputable ones... and her mentor is quite a drive away and won't have any available for six months. I'd gladly wait but Moo's sister just seems to need somebody soon.

Anyway we're trying to get the word out about what we're trying to find to hopefully avoid that 2 week emailing-50-breeders fiasco of last time.

I'm sorry, but I sadly don't have any advice on what your looking for. What I do want to say though, is I'm very sorry for your loss! Rest in peace Moo, over the rainbow bridge!

You should check online for a specific breed rescue. I know I've come across a Siamese rescue group active across the US. Or contact local rescue groups-they may have purebreeds for adoption.
