Also i know someone who really really REALLY wants the little white one. Her husband wants to give her him as a christmas pressie but he will be only 7 1/2 week old. I wanted to keep them until they were 10 wk . I think it will be too early. What do you reckon?

He can always give a certificate (saying that he is giving the kitten) and the things the kitten will need at Christmas, then pick up the kitten afterwards when it it ready and the hustle of the holidays is over.

Oh, and I suggest Butterscotch for the kitten you are keeping.

I like Butterscotch. I think you should suggest a nice photo in a frame of the kitten. Insist on waiting until the kitten is 10 weeks old. Maybe he could get her a cat tree for the kitten for Christmas?

The Mom is named Snowy, so I guess the little one could be "Yellow Snow"...

(I'm sorry. The devil in me is coming out.

I would highly recommend you not adopt out any animal as a Christmas present. Often during the Christmas season, animals get overlooked during the hussle and bussle of holiday parties, Christmas functions, opening presents, dinners, traveling...you name it- it's just not a good time to socialize a young kitten. Please make sure the kitten is of a proper age- at least 8-12 weeks before adopting it out. I would recommend your friend give the indivudal that they wanted to adopt the kitten for a stuffed animal (kitten) with a little bow on it...and attach pictures of the new kitten to it and a cute note saying that in 3 weeks, this little bundle of fluff will be your own." or something like that- you may even want to just let him attach a note and when the time is right, let the person the kitty is for actually come pick out the one that want so that they bond and get along with the kitty that they are going to committ to taking care of for 20+ years.
I hope all goes well! I definitely would not let the kitten go before it is old enough. It should be spayed/neutered and vaccinated before being placed into the new home as well to prevent overpopulation and illness.
