I was just curious as to what is the 'best' age for spaying? My girl kitten is almost 14 weeks old, so 3 1/2 months, how soon should i schedule her? Spays have to be older than neuters, don't they? Since it's a more difficult surgery/recovery? I have an adult female who is spayed, but she's 10 and I haven't had to deal with getting a cat spayed for 8 years.

So long as she weighs 2lbs you can get it done now. Doesn't matter if they are male or female.
5 of my cats were done at 12 weeks, 2 male, 3 female and all recovered well. Acting like nothing had happened once they were home.

Oh, well that's easy, then. Still need to take her into the vet to get her her shots, so we'll prob. schedule a spay while we're there. Ty!

Well my girls were Lily 10 months, Annie Rose 2 years and Kitten 7 months. When they were spayed. Bagheera was 14 weeks when neutered. My foster kittens though are spayed/neutered as soon as they reach 2 lbs or as soon as their health is good enough.

I had my little one spayed at 5 months of age and she was 5.5 lbs. They say that as long as they are healthy (good weight and vacinnes) they will recover much more quickly from the surgery.
