Does anyone know how long it will take for momma's milk to dry.

The kittens are now 12 weeks old and seriously huge compared to momma. And I have decided it is time to ween them. Its just taking too much from my baby-girl. I fitted her with a sock last night, funniest thing I've ever seen. I think she is embarassed by it to, because when my husband came home from work she hide from him, she usually fanatically greets him.

So just wondering how long I need to torture her.

normally the mother starts to push away her babys , by weened do you mean only just starting them on kitten food? or just complety from mum ? lilly had dried up by the time her babys was 12 weeks old but they do still try and nurse from her they never stoped , the only difference is there was no milk . but after a few days her milk should start going

These little ones were eating both hard and canned food at 4 1/2 weeks, Rhapsody, has been feeding them also, and she don't push them away, she is a push over. She gives them what ever they want. Even gives up her food dish, her milk is not drying up at all and she is eating like a pig. So I thought I would take things into my own hands

My husband and Iwere thinking of visiting my parents this weekend and taking the kittens with us. Our thought was that we could take Rhapsody's pretty new dress off her and let her have a two day break from the kittens. Would you suggest this?

No heartbreaking no. We have two cats and a dog already, living in a trailer park that only allows 1 pet.
