My dog insists on taste testing my lollipops. I used to throw them out, until one day I decided to stop being silly. When my mom saw me pop it back in my mouth she almost gagged! LOL

This will probably gross everyone out but Yeah! I share with the kitties. I usually eat dinner from a lap tray in my recliner surrounded by faces. I figure since they helped cook it, they shoud help eat it. But the rule is that Mom will cut a piece and put it on the tray for them, no faces in the dinner plate and no paws. IMO cat hair is just added protein

I'd laugh at you for that too - but then again, I would NEVER use someone else's toothbrush, so I guess I'm a weirdo, too!

Jeesh, when I had my full quota of cats if I refused to eat every time a paw/tongue/whisker/tail got in something I'd be a lot skinnier! (Hmmm, now there's a diet tip!)

All the time. Bit different with the doggers - their tongues are A LOT bigger. Although I kiss them on their noses all the time and let them lick my face, so I guess I'd still eat something they licked...or maybe not....

in a pile of open toed shoes!
I don't purposly try to eat after them, I'll give them a taste on their own plate. But if they did sneak a taste, I wouldn't freak out. I mean, I kiss them all the time, and they certainly lick themselves enough, so it doesn't make much difference to me....at least I know they are pretty clean, and my house is pretty clean.

Many experts think that the increase in asthma and allergies is caused by people being "too clean" and worrying too much about every little bacterium.

I don't know, there has only been one time that I was tested. I had left something on the counter to cool and one of my cats got up and ate part of it. I took a spoon and scooped out the area where he had eaten LOL.
I have learned that if something need to be left out to cool a bit, it needs to be put in the oven or microwave where the cats can't get to it. The thought of eating after my cats grosses me out but like others have said, I kiss them all the time so I don't know why it would bother me. A psychological thing I guess.

I think a more intriguing question is: would you feed guests something you knew your cat had taste-tested?

Don't answer that question. My intent is not to hijack this thread, just noting something that crossed my mind.

I kiss my cats in the mouth, but there is no way I would eat after them. They use that tongue to clean all parts of their bodies, and I'm sorry I'm not interested in eating after anyone who licks their butt.

Hmmm, I don't think I'd serve it. I don't have any kids, but if I did and one of them tasted something I was planning to serve to guests, I wouldn't serve it.

I always have shared my ice cream with my kitties, let them lick some from the spoon then continue. Maia often gets first dibs on my glass of water or milk! As long as she has'nt just come from the litter, its all good!

EWWW!

I don't even like sharing the same dish/glass with another human, let alone a creature that I watch lick its own butt. It's nothing personal against my little furball, I love her to death, and I let her lick me, and break off bits of food to give her, but she's not allowed to share with me.

That, and once you start letting her she does it to anyone, because anyone in my apt is also her bestest friend. She tried to "share" a pop with the cable guy once.
