We noticed last night that his lower right fang was loose, sticking out at almost a right angle.

He of course needs a dental, but has shown no signs of mouth pain, or even bad breath.
Still eating and chewing his dry food.
His gums are inflamed.
His tooth was not loose enough for them to remove simply, so they gave him a steroid shot an antibiotic shot and sent him home.
Vet figures the tooth is bad, but that he probably knocked it on something and jarred it loose.

He goes back tomorrow morning for oral surgery and a cleaning, they'll remove any bad teeth and they'll be putting a fairly new protective coating on the good teeth that remain.

Poor guy, he's only 7 and gets the same dental care as the other 5 cats, but the vet says that genetics are likely working against him in this case.

Odo sympathizes. He's have his teeth cleaned and at least two fangs pulled tomorrow. Both of his bottom fangs are broken, and a top one has an inflammed pocket. He has no problems eating. I primarily feed him canned, but when I'm feeling lazy, he gets a little bit of Willow's dry food, and he doesn't have any problems ploughing through that either. The only time I realize his teeth must be bothering him is when I accidentally touch one of the lower fangs.

Odo wishes Shadow luck on his dental and a speedy recovery!

Poor Fang! But this reminds me that I have to go to the dentist this afternoon (me, not the cat). Of course us humans can come up with all kinds of reasons that we can miss our appointment and I think I have just came up with one. Good Luck, Fang!

Yay!
Well, Shadow only had to have the one fang pulled, the rest of his teeth and gums were healthy just needed tartar scraped.
Vet now suspects an abcess had formed under the fang and pushed it out.
However, she now wants him in for a dental yearly, regardless of how his teeth look.

Yay Shadow! Odo only had to have two pulled, on opposite sides from each other. One was on the top and the other (which was more broken) was on the bottom. He's going to have a funny looking smile when he feels better.

Yay Odo!
Funny looking smiles are just more unique, he's such a handsome boy anyway.
