Cats have a nutritional reason for sun worship. Cats secrete
cholecalciferol onto their skin and sunlight converts it to vitamin D. When
the cat grooms, he gets his daily ration.

I didn't!

I was told once that cats created Vitamin D through their fur. This sounds a lot more likely.

I have a full spectrum floor lamp. In winter, Gizmo sits underneath this lamp and 'suns' herself. So i know it must work.
