I just gave my cats their shots yesterday morning.

Now today Duchess won't eat her treats. I gave her a yogurt treat which she never ever turns down. Then I tried a meow mix treat. Then later I gave her the tuna can to lick and NOTHING!!!!

This is completely out of the ordinary and I am worried about her now. The only change in her routine was her shot yesterday morning.

My husband says she just is having an attitude cause she is mad at me. But I'm worried. Has anyone had this happen before.

Like I said SHE LOVES HER TREATS and this is really really really weird for her!

Call the vet back as she may be having an adverse reaction to the shots...

The vet didn't do the shots I got the vaccines at TSC tractor supply company and a foster mom in my neighborhood administered them.

I thought it wasnt uncommon for a cat to have a fever or mild reaction right after shots, but then that goes away. I'm no expert, just what Ive heard.

Likely a vet would say watch it another day ... but a total lack of intrest and not eating can be a BIG WARNING sign after shots

Mine loses his appetite and is lethargic for 24-36 hours following vaccinations. My advice (based on my limited experience) would be that if your cat is still not eating tomorrow, call the vet.

I have been beside myself with worry following vaccinations, but have been told that a short period of loss of appetite and low activity is normal, and as long as the cat is back to normal within 36 hours that is okay and to be expected. An adverse reaction to shots resulting in vomiting, loss of co-ordination (like being drunk), or seizures, requires emergency treatment though.
