Hi All,
I recently took in a stray that was living around the parking garage at my apartment complex. I believe she was somone's pet who got lost and had to live outside for several months. She came up behind me one day and started meowing, I visited with her for a few minutes before I went to work. A couple of days later she ran in front of my car as I was leaving the parking garage! She was on the third floor right in the middle of the exit ramp. I knew then that I had to help her. I took her to the vet, and she is healthy, except for a skin allergy that will clear up with some antibiotics. She is so sweet and loving, she lets me pick her up, purrs, rolls over, etc. It breaks my heart that I cannot keep her because I live in a small apartment and can't have any more cats. I am keeping her separated from my cat when I can't watch them, and she is content to be in her own (small) room safe and sound, but she deserves to have her own home where she can be free to walk around as she pleases. I don't want to take her to a shelter because I won't have any control over who (if anyone) adopts her. Do you any of you know anyone in the South Florida area who could adopt her, or even give her a loving foster home where she will be safe until she finds a family?
Thanks....

Thanks! Actually I already called the Humane Society, but unfortunately they are not accepting any new cats or dogs now. I really like that the other shelter is exclusively for cats... I will definitely look into that one. That might be the right place for her.

Sasha...many rescue groups pull exclusively from kill shelters...you will need to check with the rescue group as to whether they accept strays from individuals. Your best bet may be to try to find a friend/neighbor/coworker who would be willing to foster her while you try to find her a home.

Well, I have been unable to find any no-kill shelters or foster homes with openings, so I am going to keep him for a few weeks until a shelter has room, or until I can find a home for him myself (turns out the cat is male). One of the rescue organizations is going to help me by putting his photo up on petfinder. Keeping my fingers crossed!
