Alright folks...

I had some opened red onion in my fridge..and now it reaks in there of onion..It is awfully strong and won't go away...

Try some Arm&Hammer baking soda... it takes the smell out of almost everything!

FIRST: Throw out the onion.

SECOND: Try some lemon juice or citrus scented cleaner.

I believe it is just a myth that baking soda does anything for odor. Well it has never done a thing for me and I read that somewhere... anyway for your kitchen though, I don't know, open a window.

Also try using some Mean Green cleaner or Orange Clean

I have this crystal thingy in my fridge that you wet down every month and it is great (for stopping smells) not sure how much good it will do for the overpowering smell of onion (and they have been very pungent lately).

I would take everything out and give it a good scrub

Um, are you saying I have to clean my fridge?? I never said I was up for that!!

Wash it out with hot water and vinigar and put some fresh bakeing soda in the back corner of the shelf. I clean out my fridge 3 times a year. If it needs it or not. The amount of cat hair that gets under the veggie crisper is amazing.

Did you check any other foodstuff to see if they smelled/tasted of onion. I would take everything out of figure and wipe down with vinegar/baking soda!!

onion and garlic can get their scent in cheese, fruit, some meats, some milks, butter, stuff like that- so be sure to check all of that when you clean out your fridge. I would go ahead and scrub everything down well with a good cleaner, then put a box of baking soda in your fridge to help absorb odors in the future

you know, my mother cooked up a big pot of brussel sprouts and stuck it in the fridge, i dont know why she made that much, it reeked! i chucked it away and the smell is still there

I would get some fresh kipper and soak it in vinegar
Leave for a few hours in the fridge then remove the kipper and throw it out for the cats, have a good sniff ...............then put the onion back in the fridge.

Then you realise the smell of onion isn't really that bad

If nothing else, a couple of chunks of charcoal (not brickettes) always does the trick for me!

Soak a cotton ball with pure vanilla and put it on a saucer in your fridge. I read this awhile ago when I started going with all natural cleansers due to allergies in my kits. It really does cut out odors in the fridge. I use both baking soda and vanilla.
