I've taken to bringing my camera along whenever I go to work at the shelter. The cats are so beautiful, and some of them so photogenic!

I'm still without an official room assignment; but "my" four rooms are currently being cleaned by a guy who's leaving in a month and a half, so I'll have them back soon. This week I just scrubbed the halls and the room where the two dogs live, which needs to be done because usually there isn't an extra person to do it; the cats' rooms are most important, because their health depends on it; so other stuff can fall by the wayside.

But I finished my work, and then I went in to cuddle the cats. They're as lovely as ever.

I found out a little of their history, too: The cats in my rooms were the pets of a man who, when he found himself too old to take care of the cats, donated a large amount of money to Tenth Life, with which they built an extra wing and, in part of that wing, housed his cats! Can you imagine having sixty cats for pets? You'd practically be running a shelter!... Well, you would be running a shelter, actually.

Room B
This is a shy white cat, peeking very cautiously out at me over the rim of her bed. I wish I could tell which one she is, but there are six white cats in this room! The white cats' names are Heidi, Ari, Aimee, Adam, Chuck, and Alecia, so one of those names belongs to her. I'm assuming "her" because most of the white cats are female.
Another cat whose name I don't know. The three black cats who are in this room are named Momma, Dugan, and Mindy, so s/he's one of those. In any case, I had to stay away, because this particular cat is still a bit shy--not shy enough to hide away, but shy enough to back off whenever I approach. I don't think it's Dugan, because a black male cat was pretty friendly with me last week, so it's probably Momma or Mindy.
This kitty--yet another Room B white cat--is the friendliest of the white cats. Moderate petting, a bit of play, and she's happy. At least, I think she's a she.
Tiny Tim is looking for the homemade Kitty Teaser I brought, which is currently dangling out of reach... seems he can never quite catch it! He and Charlie are quite taken with chasing things, I think.

Room D

Lucille and Mary watch me cautiously from the cat tree. These ladies are still very shy; they haven't let me touch them yet.
Orville, as friendly as ever. He's got an amazingly fluffy tail; I wish you could see it from this angle--there's more fur than cat to him!
Owen checks out the possibility of getting a treat... An unnamed white cat looks on.

Room F

Jennifer, Room F's certified lap cat, investigates my backpack. The picture's turned around at a weird angle because she's actually lying down and looking up at me, but it looked weird right side up.
Jennifer seeks out whatever lap she can find; but she has to beat Owen to it; when he sees she's getting attention, he wants it too! She and Owen are often willing to share, though; and when occupying a lap together, they look like nothing more than a yin-yang symbol (without the dots).
Miss Feisty and Miss Pretty:

I've been told these two are probably sisters, and they both look and act it! They are both black-and-white long-haired, small-framed cats, and they came from the same place. The major difference is that one of them has golden eyes, and the other green. I'm still not sure which is which, but they are both very graceful, friendly cats who seem to know just how pretty they are. Also, I caught one of them grooming my head while I was paying attention to someone else--glad I don't use any of those toxic hair chemicals, like some women do! I didn't mind--it felt nice, like a scalp massage. No wonder cats can keep themselves so clean with their tongues!

Technically they are under the care of seven volunteers--one each day.

Room H

Elsie (I think)--your basic "circle around your ankles" kitty. Also likes to chase dangly things, and to untie your shoelaces.
Big Ed, whose crumpled ear gives him a rather jaunty look. He's very demanding--if you come near, he reaches out a paw, asking for attention. But don't you dare pick him up--he hates that!
Russel, following my Kitty Tease with his eyes. In a moment, he's going to pounce...!

Beautiful pictures as always, Callista.

How wonderful of that man to give money to the shelter so that his cats would have a home. Very generous of him.
