nope, it's really not too bad
the Wiskas is actually what I use if I run out of the vet formula kitten milk i use (i can't remember the name of it- but it's really really good for them) or KMR and can't get any....the Wiskas milk is always my trusty standby
/ also, sometimes milk made for humans is sweetened -which can give kitties diarreah...it also has a different amount of vitamins/minerals...etc in it depending on what you get that isn't formulated for a kitties digestive system. that's the main reasons it's better to spoil them with a little milk specially designed for their unique little systems

Mine get it occasionally as a treat too, it is one of the few things that does not make Bumper throw up.

Maybe I will get them one today now that you all reminded me of it

(i'm lactose intolerant too)./ it's always a good idea to use a formula specifically designed for kitties when you wanna spoil them a little and give them a bit of milk
I think I disagree with this...(I only say think because I was under the same impression as Natalie...that this was a product aimed at humans and not necessarily at their cats and so decided to ask my vet)...
This wasn't my normal vet but one I took my feral to and he said that the only real benefit from a product like that is added Taurine...but then he added that as this is a supplemental feeding (ie, treat) and that your cat gets all the Taurine he needs from a good quality cat or kitten food anyway and so it's not necessary in a treat/supplemental feeding product...
Both are simply cows milk with the lactose eliminated/reduced.

He compared it to the way any supplemental treats are given and cautioned moderation. IE, we may give our cats/kittens the same tuna we eat out of a can from time to time but it shouldn't be given excessively either...IE, because its a treat, you shouldn't depend on it for essential vitamins/minerals...that is the nature of a treat!

If anyone has any counter info, please let me know!

I don't think any of us are using it as a soul supplement for feeding but more as a treat for them... which my kits LOVE

No, I do understand that...That is why the vet said there is no difference in using lactaid or Whiskas milk because its just a supplemental feeder/treat...Whiskas is just marketed towards us poor sucker humans who love our cats!
We buy the more expensive one because it has a kitty on the box!

i read on a cat forum that you could give human lactose reduced milk. I bought some for the cats, but run out of milk for me and had to use it myself!! I always have cat milk in in case I get any thin fosters, got some kitten milk for Shadow (it is goats milk) but keep forgetting to use it. Must do soon though, as she is very small for her age.

I feed this to gizmo as a treat every once in a while. He really loves the stuff and he's never had any issuse with it. I haven't bought any in while though. Might have to grab some next time I'm at the store.

My vet recommended against low lactose milk but said that the whiskas malted milk is fine, next time we are in I will ask why (and she is not usually one to recommend whiskas so there has to be some reason).

Oh and the boys thank you all for reminding meowmy to get them some milk while she was shopping!

Be very careful - the Whiskas milk is addictive! Jamie demands his daily ration, and I had a major problem when the formula was temporarily changed. I tried other brands (warning: some have sugar added!), and the lactose-reduced milk for humans, and he hated them all. I figure it's extra fluid, and take the added calories into account, and just make sure I have a big supply on hand.

I'm not psychic,I just see through people
The whiskas cat milk we have is sold in little bottles so don't know if it's the exact same but my cats love it as a treat but they don't have it more than once a week.

No i'm not a cruel meowmy I just value my sanity as they really go hyper after they have it

They snub their noses at any other cat milk though.

Before I found out I was lactose intolerant my kitties didn't get milk at all. Once I found out I was lactose intolerant and started buying Lactaid Milk, I started to give them some once or twice a week for a treat and they loved it.

I bought that for Milo when we got him because he was only 4 weeks old. He wouldn't go near it so I have never bought it again to see if he would try it again or to see if Zebra would like it.

I was giving it to LuckyGirl when we first brought her home, the vet suggested I give her some kitten milk, cause she was so skinny and under nourished. Well then I tried to back her off of it once she got to 6lbs....yeah right. She told me where to go & how to get there. And stood firmly at the base of my fridge crying until I gave her the milk. And I was already a big pile of mush with her anyway
....she was so skinny, with no tail, born with a birth defect, alone, starving, and unloved....so I came to TCS. And Mackenzie suggested slowly adding water to her milk. And that's what I did. I still give it to them daily. But they get a small saucer, and it's 1/2 water anyway. So I don't feel so bad. But they LOVE it. And lap it up till it's gone. If you even take the lime green sport bottle out of the fridge LuckyGirl will run to the bowl freaking out, cause that's what we keep it in when we add the water to the milk. And Louie....I find that it calms him a little when he's drinking it....he purrs the whole time, like he's remembering his kitty momma....
