Hellow every body. I am Nena's mother, the cat that was killed by three dogs on the 18th of Oct.

I have to tell you this as I can't stop thinking of this and asking myself what realy happend to my little one year old cat.

This morning when I was comming back from walking my dog, I saw a woman from our neighborhood with her three dogs. She is not homeless but is poor and she just goes from one garbage container to another searching for food and things she can use, doing this several times a day. She put something down, examined it a little and then gripped that "thing" by that looked to me like legs and threw it into the garbage. I was not able to see very well what it was because it was very early in the morning, still dark, and I was not so close. I took my dog inside but I felt I had to go back and see what it was. I went to the garbage container and I saw it was a black and white cat, dead, looking like it was bitten by dogs.

This woman never keeps her dogs on a leash, they walk free on the streets. They are very evil, they chase other dogs and once even bit a man by his leg.

From the beginning I susptected those three dogs of killing my little Nena, but now I am almost certain. I don't know what to do. I see those three dogs on the street so often and I feel they attacked my sweet Nena; now I saw that poor cat this morning and I am sure they killed that too, and I think they don't deserve to live. And yet, I could't kill or hurt them myself.

RIP little black-and-white cat! By now I am sure you met my beloved Nena, and you both play happily at the Bridge. And I am sure you two have something to impart each other!!!

You poor thing. Damn this makes me mad. Poor little cat.

You probably never had a home, never felt loved, except by your mom, never felt the touch of a loving, human hand. You poor baby.

You are safe now. Go find Nena, DiddoKahli, Princess Alexis, Sebastian, Lola and all the TCS babies that are over the Rainbow Bridge. They will love you, make sure you have food and water, butterflies to play with, and loving headbuts and healing licks.

I didn't meet you, but I love you anyway. Blessings from KittenKiya's Clan.

Little one, go find a handsome 3 year old named Lucky, he will be your friend and help you adjust to a life over the bridge.

maam, CALL THE COPS, CALL ANIMAL CONTROL, GET THOSE KILLERS OFF THE STREET. I am not joking, they have tasted blood.

What do they have in Romania to help in a situation like that. If ir was me and it was Ga, they would have bullets in the head and that lady would be in jail or a mental hospital.

I am surprised she didn't eat it.

Unfortunately there's nothing I can do, except kill them myself!

Here in Romania we have practically nothing to protect animals or to punish owners like that lady. We don't have an "ASPCA", animal cops or things like that. There are lots of stray dogs and cats. Some of those dogs are breed dogs. In our neighborhood there is right now a spaniel wandering around for several weeks and I don't know if he'll make it through the winter. Two years ago there was a beautiful German shorthaired pointer who survied only one year. About five years ago I found a pregnant Doberman and fortunately in a couple of days I could find her somebody to take her home, but all her puppies died.
And there are so many cats and dogs hit by cars that nobody cares anymore. It is something common to see dead animals on the road when driving from one place to another. I live in a town of 250,000 inhabitants and we have only one place [an enclosure] in the whole town where we are allowed to walk our dogs free, without a leash and muzzle! And event that place closes at 6.00 p.m.!!! We live in an appartment building, so we have to take our dog out at least three times a day, don't we? You can imagine how difficult it is to have a dog under these circumstances. And how difficult it is to go on a holiday. In six years we went only two times.

This woman should not even own those dogs if she can not care for them properly. To bad I couldn't bring Carmelo over there to take care of those dogs, for the sake of that poor black and white cat and your Nena
RIP poor baby

Your poor beloved cat has crossed the bridge in what I am guessing was Bucharest
since I had just posted another note on the feral dog problem there. But while I was there I cannot even remember seeing any cats out on the streets, they were always overshadowed by the dogs and I believe now that it is the city's reporonsibility now to defend these dogs against anything and so that would mean what has happened to you. Yes, When I was there, I was amazed at the dogs and never gave thought to the poor little kitties and how they were getting by. So sorry for your loss.

I am sorry this happened to the OP, it must be horrible, but come on where did this come from? "They have tasted blood they will attack everything" so if your cat bites you he will become a ferocious killer? Wow, this is a cat forum but this is so untrue.

You should report this lady though. She is allowing her animals to run loose and 3 dogs constitute a pack, and what two lone dogs will not do, 3 will surely do it. These dogs on their own may be the friendliest pups in the world, but by being allowed to run loose and together, they are a liability.

It still doesnt mean they are bloodthirsty killers

It's not that easy! First of all as I said there is no police cop or organization like ASPCA here in Romania. Maybe I could go to the police, but the truth is that I did not actually see them kill the cat. So I can gues what the police would do in this case - that is nothing.

There is a branch of the Romanian Kennel Club in each county of Romania. The one here in Oradea where I live had a lease agreement with the City Hall for the premises where it had its headquarters. But about three months ago the Association was evicted for no reason at all and ever since they have no office where people could go and report anything. Nevertheless, they wouldn't do anything in such a case!!!

I just read the whole post, and now I am understanding your situation better. I still agree with my statement above but I understand.

I live in Puerto Rico and the situation here is basically the same. It affects me horribly because I was raised in New York, and had never been exposed to these type of things.

Here we have mage ridden dogs running all over the place. Lactating bitches in huge numbers. Nuisance strays, everything there is we have it. Luckily though, our dogs are not agressive. They have learned to live in harmony with the people.

It is so sad that you cannot do anything about those dogs, but killing them for killing your cat is not the answer. They are not the problem their owner is, for not being responsible. I would try to talk to her (if you think it would be worth it). If you know its a hopeless case, then i'd honestly round up one or two and dump them off at another place. Once that pack mentality is gone, im sure they will be a bit more tolerable.

Dont take the law into your own hands. When I first moved here someone poisoned all the dogs in the neighborhood and it is something I will never forget.

Maybe I was misunderstood. In my first post I said: "And yet, I could't kill or hurt them myself." I could never harm an animal, except for defending myself or protecting somebody else or another animal. If I had been there when they attacked my Nena I wold have kicked them or something. But I wouldn't be able to hurt them now when I see them on the street. I am sorry to say this but I think I won't do anything about it, unless I witness a wrongdoing or an attack. Because I don't see what I could do. I know that lady for several years and I am sure that she would never admit that her dogs kill cats, and she would never walk her dogs on a leash, even if the law says that she would or else she would pay a fine.

Carmen, we realize that you are a kind, animal-loving person.
i love dogs, but i respect them for what they are, and it is true (ask animal control officers, ranchers, veterinarians, and they will agree) that dogs who taste blood are "blooded' and will be likely to kill. not only will they kill small animals, but they are much more likely to attack humans. every week, i do a search on yahoo!news for dogs and cats, and dogs attack and sometimes kill children virtually every week. The lady's dogs are a threat to the society, and she, like many, many dog owners, will be in denial that her dogs are killing. Even Cesar Milan, the Dog Whisperer, will point out that people frequently mistake the friendliness and obedience that a dog shows to adult humans as the overall temperament of the dog, which is not fair to the dog, because that denies the true psychology of dogs.
i just hope and pray that other cats, small dogs and children are not harmed by those dogs. i am sending {{{protection prayers and vibes}}} to you all.
Susan
