You really need to get into a doctor and have that looked at. When it comes to teeth, sinus and ear pain you need to get that stuff checked out immediately because those types of infections can end up causing meningitis and that's not something you ever want to get.

There are hospitals and dental clinics that are out there for those who don't have insurance and can't afford it.

Everyone is entitled to health and medical care. Everyone.

Call your local hospital and ask for a phone number of a hospital or a dental clinic that you can go to.

You need to get that looked at. The sooner the better.
I really wish it was that easy. I would have gone a LONG time ago. I remember calling hospitals a lil while ago and askin about it. I was told to look it up in the phone book. I found emergency dentists that wanted $130 just to be seen. Plus costs.

That's the weird part. I can touch it and no pain. It's my jaw

Then call up the University and speak to their Dental department. See if they can recommend some place for you.

You need to do something because that is more than just a tooth now. You need to get it taken care of.

The infection can spread and involve other teeth too.

Your health is far more important than birthdays or christmas presents. What good is everyone going to be if you get such an infection that you end up in the hospital, or worse, dead?

Birthdays and Christmas isn't about how much money you spend on gifts. It's about being together and celebrating the birth of Jesus, not shopping until you drop and paying off credit cards for the next year.

I know you have good intentions, but you really need to think about reorganizing your priorities in this case. Your health comes first and foremost.

EDIT: Places also have payment plans where you can pay monthly for the treatment done. Ask about that too. I can't stress enough how important this is that you get it looked after.

While I do agree with you about health and Christmas is about God and his Son............it's kind of hard to get kids to understand why there is nothing under the tree too. Kids have come to expect something under the tree........even if it's only something small. And right now,Dixie is going through some tough times.....it's in another post. She is trting everything she can think of to do even something small for her kids.

Dixie, I'm NOT trying to talk for you BTW.

I have been sick for over 3 weeks now myself and will NOT go back to the ER because I have to worry about Christmas myself. You can't just look at your kids and say "sorry but you won't get anything this year". It just doesn't happen that way.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

They only places like that around here require VERY good credit and unfortunatly, I don't have that.

I used to have high views of the USA, but if they will let someone suffer in pain because of finances and/or credit, then there is a whole lot more wrong with that country than I even imagined.

Have you considered contacting Social Services (In Canada it's called Welfare).

There has to be something in place that will assist people in your situation. You just have to keep looking for it.

For example....years ago I was working full time but living pay cheque to pay cheque with nothing left over for even a package of gum. I wanted to return to school and settled on nursing school, but I needed to take a University course before being officially accepted. The course was over $1,000 plus books. I couldn't afford that. I tried looking into a student loan and was told that I wasn't eligible because I wasn't taking a full course load at the University. I was told to call a bank. I called a bank and was told I didn't qualify for a bank loan, they told me to call student loans. I was in tears and 3 weeks later I was still getting the run around and no closer to getting money for the course. Finally one day when I called the same bank that I had been calling before, I ended up breaking down and crying. The woman I talked to said that I should ask about a "Part Time Student Loan" which would be deferred once I started school full time. I asked her where I go to find out about that and she told me "Student Loans". I called there yet again and talked to the same girl I had spoken to dozens of times before, and this time when I said "Part Time Student Loans", she was a wealth of information. I got the form, filled it out, got the money and took the course.

I know it's not the same thing, but there are all kinds of programs and resources out there for "us" that we don't know exist until you stumble on the right lingo.

Don't give up. Call welfare if you have to. I refuse to believe that a large, powerful, wealthy country like the USA will allow their citizens to suffer like you are.

Not to laugh at you, but you would be SOO suprised. The only time welfare, social services, medicaid or anyone for that matter, will help you is if you have literally no job, no money, no food,..... NOTHING... There was a time when I was borrowing food from my mom to feed my kids, pawning EVERYTHING I owned to pay my rent, and was 6 months behind on my car payment and when I went to Social Services for help I was told "At least your parents are giving you food. Have a nice day. NEXT!"

I was looking on line. Try calling this place and tell them your situation and that you need to get medical attention to that tooth and ask if they can help you find someone you can go see. Many doctors and clinics actually do a certain number of medical procedures for free, maybe they can help you find someone to help you.

Family Health Services
4025 Esplanade Way
Tallahassee, FL
Phone: 850-245-4100
Fax:

If you fall into a "minority" category (in Canada being female is considered a minority), then try this number. Heck, try it anyway:

Minority Health
2585 Merchants Row Boulevard
Tallahassee, FL
Phone: 850-245-4941

I found this site. It looks promising:

http://www.shepherdshope.org/story.php

Try this place too.

http://www.dcmsonline.org/About.htm

This is on their site:

"#
# The DCMS initiated the We Care Jacksonville program to coordinate a network of free health care clinics which provide quality healthcare to the homeless and medically underserved people of Duval County. DCMS physicians volunteer in the medical clinics."

Patients who are eligible for services through Shepherd's Hope have income at or below 200% of the poverty level, are uninsured and not eligible for government assisted health care programs. For example, a family of four with a monthly income of approximately $3,300 per month would meet the income test.
DH owns his own company and we make over that a month... We're just going through a financial jam right now..normally this wouldn't be an issue.

With Welfare, if you own ANYTHING.......they expect you to sell it before they will help.
DH had a piece of crap to drive and because of it, they wouldn't give us anything to help us out.I had at the time 3 kids, and DH had NO job and my family was going through their own finacial problems......so they couldn't help either.
The World has gone to the crapper for getting any help to those who need it.

They literally DON'T care. And the groups who say that donate medical services to a certain # of people a year usually have a waiting list and by the time your # is called, you can save for it and have the procedure done yourself. OR they say they are out of funds until such and such date. It's just like Pro-Bono Lawyers, some of them have waiting lists 3-4 years long

But, look in the parking lot to see what THEY are driving!!! It's BMWs and Vets and all the expensive ones.
I think that's where the money goes to help those who need it.

When I applied for assistance about a year and half ago they asked me what all my debts were. I told them the utilities, rents, groceries, clothing and all that. They don't even take into consideration that you have a car payment and insurance. I asked about it too! I said "What do you mean I don't qualify? I have a truck payment over $400 a month PLUS $160 in insurance." They exact words to me were "Having a vehicle is NOT a neccessity"

I said "Oh yeah, how do YOU get to work?" She said "Good Point, but it's not up to us, it's the goverment who sets the guidelines".... I said "yeah and I don't see any of thier rear's taking the bus"

I found this on line too:

"Florida and federal law states that you cannot be denied emergency medical care, even if you cannot pay for the service. However, you will be billed and you are legally responsible for payment. Tell the hospital staff if you think you will have difficulty paying all or part of the bill. Many hospitals have a program that may pay your bill, or they may refer you to other organizations or services that can help."

Boy - they really take a hard line, don't they! Your jaw looks really painfull! Hope you manage to get some sleep tonight, but you need to get that looked at. If it's just a temporary cash flow problem, maybe the dentist can do a payment plan.
