i know this may not belong here but feel it needs special attention. does anybody live near southern california? there is a blind 3 month old kitten there in need of a home. needless to say it would need extra care and extra love. please let me know.

Sue,

I may know someone who lives in Westminster who can take this kitten. Is that close enough? If so, I will talk to her tomorrow and ask her.

7CC, I think this kitten will be ok. One of my former cats went completely blind during the last few months of her life, so I have some experience in this area. I'm sure this kitten will make someone a wonderful pet and live a long and happy life. As long as they are kept in a safe, protected indoor environment blind cats can actually do quite well. They can move around in a familiar environment almost as well as any other cat, their other senses compensate for their lack of sight, and they use their whiskers as feelers to avoid running into objects. A vet will be able to answer a new owner's questions about any specific needs this kitten may have.

oops sorry cozy-

I was pm'ing Sue when I was answering your post and got confused. I called my friend, and she is full up right now. Her daughter has brought home 5 baby budgies, so a new cat isn't really an option for her now.
I had two blind kitties many years ago, and both of them were total trips! they are a joy to have around!
