Wow, this is a good idea!!! I'm new here, and I loved reading about everyone!

My name is Michele. I'm 28 years old. I spent the first 22 years of my life in Indiana and graduated from Ball State in '97 with a degree in genetics and chemistry.

After graduating college, I moved to Fort Myers, Florida. I just packed up whatever I could fit in my car and left. I didn't have a job, a place to live, and I didn't know anyone! After three and a half years, I moved to Orlando, Florida. I have been here 2.5 years so far. I share my apartment with my boyfriend and our two newly acquired kittens. I consider myself a nomad and will probably leave Orlando soon for California (if my boyfriend agrees )

Somehow, I ended up as a Network Engineer. I'm still not sure how that happened. I spent the better part of a year getting my MCSE. I also do some consulting work and design websites on the side.

I love dancing and music, especially reggae music. I usually go out dancing three times a week. I also enjoy computer games.

I'm a new animal lover. A stray kitten that my coworker found during lunch turned me into an animal lover. My kittens follow me everywhere I go and always greet me at the door for head butts and kisses when I get home. They have definitely changed my life.

This is me:

I'm Heidi(lots of us Heidi's on this board!) I'm 28 and live just south of Washington DC with a house full. I have 5 human type children: Alexis 7, Brittany 5 1/2, Lauren 4 1/2, Samantha who will be 1 in a week, and Charlie who is Samantha's younger twin brother (she beat him by 2 minutes) 2 furry kids, Zowie a border collie mix of unknown age, and Simon a 4 month old ragdoll, and my 42 year old husband Jeff who still isn't quite trained up right. We're on the lookout for another kitty addition, but are taking our time as we just had a kitty die suddenly very shortly after being adopted.(Lucy was a shelter kitty and was with us less than a week.)
Hobbies are almost non existant, I goof off on the computer either internet stuff or telling myself I'm writing, read just about anything I can get my hands on, and enjoy laughing at the antics that go on around here. I stay at home with my brood, and try to keep the house from reaching disaster area status. My hubby works incredibly long hours being an "internet sales manager" for a local car dealership.
I was raised by my mother and step father along with my 2 sisters and 1 brother with a very liberal view of the world in a small conservative southern town with more churches than people(no offense to the religious folks) which makes for interesting conversations with some of the population.(oooh it's fun to mess with some people!)
I have severe sarcastic tendencies, a habit of finding any humor possible in almost any situation, and Ok, I admit it a slightly "dirty" sense of humor.

OK...about me...

I am 30 yrs old and I live in Montgomery, Alabama. At this time I have 4 cats (Sassy, Sweet Pea, Lucy and Ricky) and 5 dogs (Bingo, Belle, Chip, Buster and Amy). Growing up, we were an eclectic family. We had, at one time, about 20+ cats. I could not name them all to you. I can picture them in my mind, but I cannot tell you their names.

At this time, I am at my limit with pets. Sassy is a purebred Himalayan. She is beautiful. She did have papers but the people that GAVE her to me lost them. I did not care. She was coming out of a situation that was not fun for her. The people that gave her to me had another Himalayan that chased her off the floor. If she jumped down onto the floor, the other cat chased her back onto the counter. It has been 10 months and Sassy is now getting down and walking around and socializing with the rest of the Zoo. SweatPea came from a Humane Shelter. I knew it was love at first sight. When I saw her sitting in that cage, all bundled up in that litter box I said to my self "Self, that is one pretty kitten" so I coaxed her out of the litter box and picked her up. That is when I realized that she did not have a tail. The shelter worker informed me she was a Manx at that time. Sweetie got mad at me for not paying her attention and swatted at my face which drew blood. Yep she came home with me that night.

Lucy came to me through a weird situation. I adopted another kitten I named Jinxie. I was also fostering a Corgie/Chow mix dog at the time. I came home from work the next day and the dog had the kitten in his mouth. The next week, I came home and found a puppy dead. I was devastated. The foster dog, nevertheless, went to another foster home. The breeder that I got the puppy from offered me another puppy when I was ready and that is when I got Amy. The home that the foster dog went to had a 8 week old kitten and they said that they really did not want the kitten I told them that I would take it since the foster dog would kill it anyway. So that is how I got Lucy. Lucy is one of the sweetest kittens you will ever meet!

Recently, a friend of mine has a barn cat that had kittens. I went and looked at the kittens and there was this cute little white one with a few white spots and a gray tail. I said I WANT THAT ONE! and that is the one that I have right now. His name is Ricky. He is going to start socialization classes tonight with one of my dogs. He is not too keen on them right now but he needs to learn that they arent so bad and they need to learn to leave him alone. it will be one on one with me referring. fun fun huh??? he is only 8 weeks old now anyways....so he needs to start....

Ok...I will try to get some pics tonight of the kitties...i think you will like them!

Hi! I'm Amy, and as my nick implies, the mom of many cats. I'm 43, married for 13 years to Steve and no human kids. I was born and lived in Chicago for 30 years, then in Houston for a few years and now south of Kansas City for the last 11 years. I'm the youngest sibling of 5 and husband is one of 8 so we have large extended familes. My father passed away in 1986 and mom in 2000 and now struggle to keep close to my family.

I have worked in information systems for 24 years, working up from a junior programmer flunky to general manager over projects with 500+ people. Currently in the telecommunications industry. Even though I've been in information systems so long, I am still technology impaired - I only organize the work, don't do it any longer.

In my spare time, I do a lot of crafts - sewing, flower arranging, needlecrafts, cookbook making, calendar making. Also love to cook, read, surf the net, fix up my 100 year old house, gardening, etc.

A lot of my time is obviously devoted to my furbabies. We lost the last of our 5 dogs in January and am just biding time before we save another (one or two) dog(s). I have just started volunteering for a local no-kill rescue organization (www.helppets.org) and have already organized an adoption clinic at a senior center, am pulling together donated supplies to make cat trees and have become the personal pet adoption counselor to folks at work. I think I will do best at event planning.

I live in the country and am one of a handful of folks out here that are trying to take care of the ferals in the neighborhood - I'm fortunate in that most of the neighbors love animals. I TNR when I can, and socialize and adopt them out if possible. I've hand weaned 2 orphaned litters (from 3 weeks and from 10 days) and have kept 3 out of the 7 kittens from those litters (Scarlett, Muddy and Koko). We've also found homes (or owners) for a number of wandering dogs in the neighborhood.

I won't go on about my cats, as you all hear about them in the other threads. Needless to say, they keep me sane and I love them to pieces!!

Hi I'm April and I'm 44 yrs. young. I've been with my husband for 27 years 25 of them married. Our 26th Anniversary is coming up quickly Dec.31. I have 2 kittens Aragorn and Legolas and 1 dog Cisco. They take up for us not being able to have a child.

I was born in East York in Toronto and lived there until 4 yrs. ago. Going to stay in Lake of Bays until the end. It's so much fun and so many things to explore. I've seen the West Coast of Canada and the Prairies, I'm still looking forward to seeing the East Coast and the Territories. I would like to explore my own country first before going anywhere else.

I'm a photographer, I sell Natural Supplements, I make my own soaps and I'm trying to create a website. I like to read and play games on the net with my friends, go for long hikes either in Algonquin Park or on my 40 acres. I always find something to photograph!

I have to many hobbies to list, so I hope that I didn't bore anyone!

It's great to read about everyone and find out what our lives are outside of TCS!
I'm Amy and I will be 30 tomorrow. I'm married and have 2 furballs Jake and Bunnie. I've been married a little over a year now. I live in LA and work during the day as a staffing coordinator at a temp agency (I send out temps). I am a singer and songwriter and hope to make a living with music some day soon. If you are interested you can check out my website at www.amyspear.com. I also love to work out, go to the movies, and just explore LA and all that's fun to do here. However, I hope to move away from here as soon as possible. I grew up in Arizona and Colorado and I always wanted to live here in LA, but it isn't all it's made out to be. Too much crime, not enough respect and too expensive. So that's me in a nutshell!

I am a 22 yr. old college student. I would like to be a civil rights attorney. I am from western New York and right now it is FREEZING out. I have 6 cats and a ferret. My oldest cat is 12 yrs. old. Her name is Daisy. She is a gray tabby. My next oldest cat is a 7 yr. old male named Taffy. He loves to be carried over my shoulder. He is an orange tabby. My 3rd oldest cat is also my newest arrival. His name is London. He is 4 yrs. old. He was dropped off outside of my home and I spent 2 yrs. trying to trap him. I finally succeeded Nov. 2nd, 2003 with the help of my cat-loving neighbor. He is the biggest baby and has become quite accustomed to the indoor life. He is white with gray spots. He also has a birth defect. Only one of his eyes developed, so the other is just an eyesocket. My three youngest cats are all 3 yrs. old. Jack was born in Mar., Luke in April, and Lexus in July. All were strays. Jack looks like a black tabby maine coon, but since we don't know anything about his background I can't be sure. Luke is a black cat, but if you look at him in the right light he appears to have stripes. Lexus is calico. Her mother was dropped off either pregnant or her two kittens were dropped off with her. My neighbor took the mother and one kitten and I took the other. They are my life.

Right now I am working as an Office Assistant for the State of IL. I loathe it but it pays the bills. My name is Lisa. I'm 24 years old. I'm a christian, country girl with a southern accent. I was born on June 17, 1979 on Father's Day (quite a gift, huh?). I live in central Georgia (the peach state). I'm single, with no children (other than my cats of course). I just recently graduated college, making me a certified business office specialist and am now looking for a job (wish me luck ).

I love country music; coca-cola; cats; fast food; spending time with my family; writing poems; collecting Shirley Temple movies and DVD's and anything else that has anything to do with her; and watching "Days of our Lives" and "Another World" soap operas. I am currently in the process of learning sign language (just because it interests me and I feel the need to). And that's really all I can think of to say for now.

Seeing as we have a lot of newer members who haven't posted to this thread, I am bumping it to the top for updates.

Hmm I guess I should do this!
My name is Meagan and I live in Northern California and have my whole life. I am 17 years old and I just graduated High School in December. My parents have been divorced since I was around 2 years old. My dad re-married when I was 5 (never told me he was getting married). His wife and I do not get along that well, but we have done better since I moved out of their house. I have two half brothers named Bradley and Zachary, I seem to have forgotten their ages though they are around 8 and 10? My mom and I are more like best friends, she knows everything about me. We live together in a 3 bedroom house with an added on den, with 2 large dogs and 9 somewhat small cats. We have just started looking around to move within the next year, we have been looking at new homes (yay!). That seems to be about it!

Sam, just wondering, when you say college (for you) what do you mean? Because here college students are around 18 years of age and up. I think I am a little confused, lol.

Hi all

My name is Angela Natalie Schild. I am turning 29 next month. I have been married for a year and a bit but have been with my husband for 8 years. We have no children but I am hoping on starting to try later this year (around September).

I am mum to Tarka, a beautiful chocolate Burmese. She is a special needs kitty as she is paralysed in her back legs but she is an absolute sweetheart. I am also mum to Luca, a chocolate siamese. She is the sweetes most lovable little cat as well.

I am a project manager at an Internet Service Provider in South Africa and am writing my certification exams in just under 3 weeeks (I am supposed to be studying now! I am such a bad girl).

I have one real brother, his name is Craig and he is doing his doctorate in Chemical Engineering. I have 2 stepbrothers and 2 step sisters - they are quite a lot older than me though.

My hobbies are my pussy cats, reading, gardening and that is about it. A very boring existance- but I like it!.

My name is Adrienne and I was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec. I currently live in a suburb off the island of Montreal, and I'm planning (if I EVER get my acceptance letter!) on moving out of my mom's house and going to live on my own in the Toronto/Brampton, Ontario area in September.

I'm 25, and live with my mother. We have 3 pets. Dixie, a 6 year old beagle/collie mix (I'm taking her with me to Brampton) who we adopted from the SPCA 5 years ago. Kermitte, a 3 year old female grey/white tabby we got for free from the Montreal SPCA when she was 4 months old (a thank you gift from the Director of the SPCA for my 1 year of volunteer work), and Elmo, a 1 year old orange/white male we also got for free from a woman who had a litter of kittens that needed a good home. We got him when he was 8 weeks old.

I work as a professional groomer at a local vet clinic, and I LOVE my job!!! I'm studying to take a horseback riding exam soon, and have just finished a spanish course, which was a LOT of fun!!
I'm bilingual (trilingual, although my spanish is still being worked on)... I have visited almost all of Canada, and my bf and I are going on a trip in May. We're flying to B.C, where we'll tour the province and visit with family I have there, then driving through Canada back home. Should be a great trip!...Did I forget anything? Oh yeah. I was in a hit and run car accident last summer with a drunk driver, and was very lucky to come out of it uninjured. The car was totaled, which means we now own a new car (2003 Mazda Protege 5... a beautiful "laser blue").

K. I think that'll do for now.

Most places besides the US, college is like high school. Beyond that is university.

Hi! My name is Trish and I'm 24 years old. I am living in Toronto right now with my boyfriend and two cats. I've lived in quite a few places though. I was born in Victoria, BC, then moved to Toronto, Ontario (North York) and lived there for less than a year. I was 4 and my dad hated it there so he got out as soon as he could and we moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba, where we lived for 5 years. Then we moved to Ottawa, Ontario (Orleans) and lived there for a year until my dad was offered a position in Germany. So we went there (Lahr, in the Black Forest) and stayed there for a year until his position was cut and we had to come back to Canada. So we went back to Ottawa and I finished high school there. Then I went to Waterloo, Ontario, where I studied computer science/math at the University of Waterloo. I just finished my degree there and now I work as a Programmer Analyst in Toronto.

I am a HUGE Ottawa Senators fan and I love hockey (typical Canadian girl). It sometimes makes it hard to live here in Leaf Nation. Boo Leafs. Hehe! Anyway...I like to cross-stitch, watch hockey, and... I don't know, I guess I'm kind of boring.

I have two furbabies. Sparta is my DLH brown tabby girl who's about 11 months old and Ares is my DMH black and white boy who is about 6 months old. They're sweethearts and I love them to pieces!

I guess that's about it!

Hi, my name is Jimmy Frost and I'm a long-haul trucker. I'm 39 years old and don't feel a day over 60. I love bubble-wrap and peanut-butter.
I am married to a pretty nice person who talked me into out first cat, Misty.
Then she talked me into another cat named Serenity,
I snuck out of the house one day and adopted my precious Zo-Zo and on Christmas day of 2003, we adopted out most recent addition to the family, Bari.
It's all my wife's fault that I'm a cat lover becasue she was the one who convinced me that it was okay to have a pet and perfectly okay to have cats becasue afterall, we owned our own house!
I realized that she was right and now I'm a member of a local Cat Rescue group that I love helping out.

I have done a wide range of jobs, pumped gas, Paramedic, Repo-Man, warehouse helper and finally, trucker.

I also write a monthly article for TCS called "Fur The Long Haul" where I write about traveling with my cats and the adventures we have together. When you spend as much time with an animal in such a confined space as a truck, you learn a lot about them and yourself.

Is there anything better than having a warm kitten or cat curl up in your arms to heap love and affection on you?
When a cat loves you, you've earned it.

Actually in New Zealand, it is just a handful of high schools that call themselves colleges. For example, my high school was Marian College but we still called it a high school. The boys school across the street was called Shirley Boys High School. Most HS are called just that - high schools.

We call "colleges" universities with some exceptions - schools that teach teachers are called Teachers Colleges and we don't really have community colleges - they are called polytechnics - but they are the same thing.

Hope this helps.

Maybe it would be less misleading if you just said you were a high school student instead of a college student Sam - we never said "I go to college" in NZ when I was in high school

Here in PR private schools are called "Colegio" and Universities "Universidad".
