I was thinking about my kittens and how they are approaching a year old. Miki turns a year this month and Tyran turns a year in April. They've only had thier rabies and distemper shots. My question is, what other vaccines should they have. Even if they are not absolutly necessary, what vaccines are offered by vets that I should get for my kitties?

they usually give a combo vaccine, i think the abbreviation is FVRCP?? could be wrong, but it covers distemper, and a couple others-that's not helpful is it
but its likely that if you kitties were vaccinated against distemper that they got this combo
I personally don't vaccinate my kitties after their last kitten shots, but that's due to their FeLV status. The only vax that's required is rabies and you can get that every 3 years.

Well they haven't had thier Feline Leukemia vaccine and I know that's an important one. Like I said, the only thing they've had is distemper and rabies. Next time I go to the vet, I'll ask if the vaccine was a combo.

I really don't recommend the FeLV vaccine if your kitties are not indoor-outdoor kitties, their chances of being exposed are very small, and sometimes vaccines can cause reactions, so the least amount of vax I have to give my kitties is what I give

Well I plan on taking them outdoors on harnesses from time to time, so they will be exposed to the outdoors. My grandmother is afriad the cats will catch it and transmit it to her dogs.

The only way a cat can catch leukemia is by direct contact with other cats, the virus dies almost immediately after leaving the body. And dogs, humans, bunnies, hamsters, NOTHING can get feline leukemia, its is a feline specific virus so your Grandma has nothing to worry about. Also, the vaccine is really only 85% effective anyway
not real good IMO

Ok. I'll make sure to tell all this to my grandmother. She seems convinced that my cats will catch something and give it to her dogs.

In fact, I don't really think that cats can pass colds and such to dogs
abou the only thing that can be passed is mange, and the dogs are much more likely to pass that that to your kitties
