I'm mother to two incredible furkids, Jack & Antigone (Tig for short). My sons are a little over 6 years old and I've had them since they were about 4 months old. My spouse & I adopted them from the Humane Society here on O'ahu.

Now we're getting ready to move to the East Coast and I am incredibly nervous about traveling with my boys. They've seldom left the house.

I stumbled upon this site while searching for cat related stuff.

I'm looking forward to learning and sharing.

Aloha!

Can't wait for you to join us here on the East Coast! I'm a mass person born and raised (although I am quite jealous of you living in Hawaii - my brother lived out there - beautiful!!)
Good luck with your move.

Thank you all so much for a very warm welcome! Some have asked for photos and I hope I get it right, so here goes:

This should be a picture of my niece and my big furkid, Tig. He's on a diet, but, as you can see, it isn't going as well as we had hoped.

And this is Jack & Tig together. They like to snuggle (as often as they like to fight).

I hope these all come out okay, aren't too large, etc.

Aloha and welcome to TCS!
I'm Susie. My ex and I lived on Oahu for a few years back in the 80's. We flew with our then dog Scruffy from Hawaii to Ohio. She made it just fine and I'm sure your kitties will too. I'd see if your vet will give them something for calming though..............that's a long flight.

Welcome to TheCatSite, all, and Aloha!

Glad you could make it here and you're sure to find a lot of good friends, helpful information, and great cat pix! Hope your move goes well -- if you're planning on airlifting them over, you'll want to call the airline for their regulations. Generally, they require that they each be in an airline-approved kennel (carrier) large enough for them to comfortably turn around, stand, and lie down in -- these are obtainable at Petco, PetsMart, etc.; you'll want to secure the metal door on top with wire, but leave the front one unsecured for opening when you arrive at your destination, to fill the clamp-on water/food dishes that fit on this door. You can buy airline travel kits at the same places, and these contain absorbent cage liners, labels for the carriers, and dishes. I put foam on top of the liner, for comfort. You may be able to fly them as check baggage under your seat -- check with the airline on their requirements for that. Safe journey!
