ok I have read alot about cats. I know that cats usually wake up to every little noise. and it makes me wonder if my little man is ok. when I get home from work he gets in my lap while I play my MMORPG. (which is usually until I go to sleep) he will sit with me usually a few hours. and falls right to sleep. well he sleeps very deeply and usually doesn't really move around too much. I can pick him up and move him and he doesn't really wake up. that worries me less because I think he just feels safe here. He knows nothing will get him with me around. it the rest of the story, he shakes. I can watch the muscles in his face tremble. I almost wonder if he is seizureing. it's rather hard to explain. he was shaking one day and sat up and vomited on me but before freaking out I waited to see if anything else came of it and nothing. no more vomiting nothing he just seemed almost like a bad dream did it or something. that happened prolly a month ago and this morning for no reason he threw up again.... but nothing eles. he was awake and running around playing when I was up for work and it happened when my roomate got home at 6:30 am.... I was up at 8am. the other thing I should tell you is he has a problem with chewing. he likes to eat very fast. even the free fed hard food. he runs in eats a bunch really fast and leaves. (they are about 6 months old she is maybe 7months) she seems fine it is him I am worried about. Any help would be great! Sorry for the long post!

Is this a new behavior or has he been this way for awhile?

Sounds like he should be seen by a vet...could be any number of things including neurological conditions.

I agree, it's always best to be safe.

There are so many things that could be wrong that I couldn't speculate.

he doesn't always shake. he has been doing it for a while but I never really thought about it until lately. I just thought he was dreaming but now I am starting to wonder if something is wrong.he shakes maybe 2 times a week maybe more I don't see....

I would say if you really have a feeling that something might be wrong...at least call your vet to ask them for advice..good luck

Both my girls will shake just like how you're describing. We call it the "kittystorm." It's usually accompanied by little chirps and preceded by tail or paw twitches. Sometimes they even wake themselves up!

All my experience with both cats and dogs seems to indicate it's just dreaming. Just like how some people twitch and moan in their sleep.

Even sleeping so heavily isn't that much of a surprise to me. I used to have a cat that could be carried in from outside while still asleep (or vice-versa...my sister and I used to have much fun with that!) and not wake up till she was ready. The vet said nothing was wrong with her, she was just a very heavy sleeper. Seeing as how I am too, it made sense that my parents had a smoke detector placed right outside my bedroom. =)
