I was driving to work this morning when out of the corner of my eye I thought I saw a kitty laying by the side of the road. I stopped, jumped out of my car and ran back, hoping that the little mite may still be alive and I could help him or her.
But when I got there I could see he had gone to the rainbow bridge.
I didn't touch him - but I could see he'd been there a while, it looked like he'd been hit by a car in the night and put at the side of the road.
But what if I'd touched him - what if he hadn't been laying there ages, what if I did wrong!
He definately wasn't breathing though, and his eyes were shut. He had no collar on, so I ran to the nearest house but there was no one home.
I didn't know what to do.

I went into the vets on the way home in case anyone had reported a lost cat, and told them all about him. He does sound and look like one that went missing near the surgery, but he would have travelled a long way to get to where he was. Maybe he was trying to find home. Maybe it was a different kittie.
I'm so sad for you, little kittie, and your owners, who probably loved you very much and must be missing you so much right now.
Rest in peace, play happily over the rainbow bridge, you are so beautiful and you certainly did not deserve for your life to end in such an awful way.

I wish there was something I could do for this poor, precious being.

aww RIP little one. Good of you to stop, If it was me I would be inclined to take a black bin bag with me tomorrow and if the cat is still there take it to the vets, they can check if it is microchipped and they usually keep any cats in cold storage for a week in case the owners are looking for it.

RIP little kitty. Run free at the Rainbow Bridge. That is a hard thing to see. I always get teared up at any animal by the side of the road.

This is a good idea, if you are up to doing it.

Rest in peace little lost life. Enjoy your time at Rainbow Bridge.
