Ever since I got Fez at 8 weeks he has always been shy/nervous, it kinda got worse as he got older, I dont know why, Ive always tried to get him to come out of his shell, and for the last couple months I had stopped,I sort of gave up, I just figured he would be one of those scared cats that always runs and never comes up to you.
So lastnight I was getting everyone ready for bed, as I walk through the livingroom and walked past Fez, I realized he didnt run away like he normally does, same thing when I came back the other direction. He was just kinda looking at me, I was talking to him and I decided to just sit down and see what would happen. So as I sit he comes closer, I stick my hand out as Im talking to him and next thing I know Im petting him, he was still a little nervous, but he was purring very loudly. He kept head butting my hand and was absolutly loving the attention.Then I decided to see if he would come to me up on the chair, so I stopped petting him and I sat back in the chair, he was looking at me from the floor, then jumps up on the chair and sits next to me and lets me pet him for 10 minutes! He has never jumped next to me before, ever! Then he hangs out on my lap as Im petting him, and one of my big dogs comes over, (the dogs are fine with cats) I thought for sure Fez would jump off the chair, but he stayed and was nose to nose with the dog as Im petting him, still purring!
I wanted to leave Fez on a good note so I got up and got some treats and gave them to him before I went off to bed, when I last saw him he was eating them up.
So thats it but its a major breakthrough with Fez, it made me feel so good! I love Fez! He has always been my favorite and I've always been saddened by his Ferel like behvaior, he just made me so happy, I wasnt expecting that.
I hope he only gets better from here!
