Hi cat lovers,
my name is Irene and I am new to this forum. I have been living with cats for 10 years, and even brought two of them from Germany to the US when I moved here in '98. So if anyone needs tips on a transatlantic kitty move, I might be able to help.
Last year I had to leave my two beloved cats with their daddy
, but I knew it was best for them. They were used to their home and had a great place and a lot of love there.
Right now I am in the process of adopting a second kitty. I posted in the behavior forum that "Kaylie", the cat I have been living with for over a year, is not happy about it. Hopefully they will be able to adjust.

I'm looking forward to getting to know other cat lovers here.

Irene

Hi and a warm welcome from Spain and my kitty- crew
We had to "ship " two of my kitties over to Spain, so I know how that can be, however all the way to the States must have been a bit stressful for all concerned !

Its great here, with lots of advice, help, support and friendship.............oh and we have a bit of fun now and then

Once you get settled maybe you could post some photos of your crew

We just love photos here
Enjoy the forums & good luck with your new addition !!

Thank you for my wonderful welcome

Actually, the travelling with the cats went better than expected. It happened in 1998, and back then we were able to bring both cats into the cabin with us. We had them in soft sided carriers, that fit under the seat during start and landing. Otherwise we had them next to our feet. Not comfortable for the humans, lol, especially when travelling coach, but possible. We had both cats sedated by our vet on the way to the airport. One of them slept for the whole 17h, the other one woke up in NY, but still was o.k.

Dear Irene:

Welcome! Wie gehts? Hope Kaylie is beginning to adapt to the new kit in your lives...it does take time, sometimes, but in the end, it will have been worth it to see them curling up together, washing one another, playing together and generally being loving! So sorry you had a breakup. I'm in the middle of one myself, and have had to get some of my beloved felines to sanctuary due to the impending relocation. As many as can go with me, are going. Anyway, hope you enjoy it here at TheCatSite and look forward to hearing good stories about Kaylie's progress with her new mate!
