Hello Everyone,

I have a 6 week old kitten that I noticed about 2 hours ago that his
breathing does not seem normal. when I look at him sitting next to
his mother, you can see from the movement of his fur that his
breathing is quicker than normal. What I mean is that his breathing
in and out is much quicker than normal. Like I said, you can see it
by the way his fur moves when he breathes. Also I can see his nose
moving just a little bit, you know when cats are sniffing for
something in the air. He doesn't have his mouth open, like he needs extra air.
His mouth is shut, appears to be normal. From what I can see, it's
not his heart beating fast, it's his breathing. I don't hear any
congestion, no wheezing, no coughing. His mother does have some very
minor sneezing going on. Does anyone know what this could be with the
kitten? So far he does not seem to be in distress. He does have 2
other siblings that are normal. It's just the breathing seems much
quicker paced and deeper. What can this be? Can anyone suggest what
I can do? Please help me. I have called the animal emergency hospital near me and was told just to keep an eye on him. If he appers to become distressed to bring him in. At this moment, right now he's sleeping with still the same breathing pattern, but again he does not seem distressed. In fact when he was dozing off he was playing and chewing on his mommie's tail! Can anyone suggest what could be going on, or what i can do?

Thank you all,
Lisamichelle

I really can't offer much help, you need to just kep your eye on him, and the secound you think he is stressed or he is worsening, bring him in immediately, they can slip away so quick at that age. I would bring him to your vet in the morning. It could be any thing causing it, from URI to an allergic reaction to the floor clener you used, they have sensitive little systems when they are young. Good luck, I hope it's not serious.

welcome to the site, BTW
